Would this career change hurt my chances? [#permalink]
31 Jan 2008, 13:44
Hello!
I have been offered a role as a Business Analyst analyzing various printed output (customer statements) and the business cycles/departments requesting/creating them.
I am not in an IT role currently, and am worried that accepting this type of role may move me into the dreaded 'IT' catagory for admissions.
I am in a service capacity now (attached to a phone taking incoming calls,) so I am thinking that anything would be better than that, but I have been doing my old job long enough that I am confident I can sell it and the special projects I have been doing to the adcoms.
Any thoughts?

Morepower4me,
It depends on whether the new role moves you closer to your post-MBA goal in any way and whether it can be presented as a step forward in terms of leadership (of people) opportunities or increased responsibilities. If one or both of the answers is 'yes' than it might be a smart move.
Good luck,
