Would you like to get to rename GmatClub? [#permalink]

So we have been discussion a rebranding of gmatclub to show that this place is much more than just gmat stuff. It provides you all the help you need on your path to an mba acceptance. some example of ideas: clubmba mbaclub bschool praetsworld mba2z schrute school of business mbaworld Now here is your chance...give us what you think would be a good name that fits this place well.

BschoolU - suggested by agold mbaclub - we can keep the logo. mbanation praetsworld.  schrute is a clever clever name, but gets us into copyright territory.

I vote for mbaclub. Seems like a good transition from GMAT to MBA. I think it would keep some of the value built into the xxxclub name, though some of you marketing gurus would know best.

I agree that the name should be changed.

Any name that connects these dots is welcome.
Winner gets a gift certificate, the value of which is determined using the formula -- (years at gmatclub)* (members kudos count/forum posts)*100 *highest number of people voting in favor of chosen name.

I say yes. GMAT club has grown to be much more than a pure gmat resource. In fact most of my time here is actually spend on post-gmat stuff - MBA application, reasearch, ranting and raving and like.

I vote for MBAClub
Reasons:
1.Continuity: natural transition from GMATClub
2.Meaning is clear and wide enough, and it truly corresponds to what we are really about – not only GMATs and admissions, but all things related to MBA: life at BS, recruiting, personal issues etc. 'Club' = community, society of kindred souls.
3.Easy to remember, easy to spell, nothing unnecessary fancy.
BUT: it seems that mbaclub.com, mbaclub.net, mbaclub.org, mbaclub.info, mbaclub.biz are already taken – just checked Whois… mbaclub.edu seems free, but I don’t know the rules for that domain zone; we might need some special permission to register it.
As other possible options I like MBACircle and ClubMBA.

I am all for a name change.
But what I am a bit nervous about is that a lot of people join the forum because they need resources for the GMAT. Many of these people stay well past their GMAT, and some even stay well past their in-school years. So we have to be careful that taking the GMAT out of the name won't affect this early part of the pipeline.
so for those reasons a name like MBAHopefuls or something similar gets my vote. and MBACircle doesn't since it sounds like it's for current MBA students.

greenoak makes a good point... we do need the domain name to be free too. mbacircle.net, .org, and .biz are free. .com is taken. buff has a point, but I'm not sure if MBAHopefuls has a good ring to it as some of the other names.

Hi everyone - I like the idea of changing the name and was initially leaning towards mbaclub or clubmba myself. But I realize we may even outgrow that name in the next couple of years, what with PhD students, Accounting and MFin students getting on board. So, I would suggest coming up with a name that is of broader scope instead of just MBA. What does everyone think?
Right now, I am not getting any names in keeping all of Praet's criteria - but I will think about this some more.

I think gmatclub is better/the best. Because, everyone who prepare for GMAT (initial days) they search on GMAT key word ... not on MBA key word (that is how I found this site) but I agree this site is more than just GMAT exam help. once you come to this site for GMAT exam help, they see all the help and they are going to stick around till their admission to B-school.

yea I agree. People come here for the GMAT. We have 400K GMAT related posts. I came out of those forums and I am assume a lot of people, especially the people who will stick around, will as well.
But if we had to rename I vote for MyMba. However that domain is taken and probably would cost a lot to get.
