D it is

(X+a)(X+b) = X^2+X(a+b)+ab

a+b = 3 ab = c

a) a = 1 then b = 2 and c = 2
b) b = 2 then a = 1 and c = 2

D it is. Same technique as Anandnk. Less than 1 min for I did not calculate the individual values.

if u r using a+b=3, shouldn't the answer be C??? You are using both options, aren't you?

mirhaque.. in the stem it says 3x.. where as x(a+b)we get
so we can replace 3x as x(a+b),assuming a+b=3

Mirahaque,
The given question reduces to A+B =3. Find AB?
All you need to find are the values of the variables A and B.

You can find the value of one variable if you know the value of the other.

Each of the statements gives the value of one variable and this can be used to solve the above eqn.

Hence the answer (D).
