x and y are not integers. The value of x is closest to?

1. 4 is the integer closest to x+y
2. 1 is the integer closest to x-y

E. solving equations from 1 and 2:

2x = close to either 4 or 5 or 6.
if so, then x = close to either 2 or 3. NSF.
