(C) for me

The crucial point are -1 and 0...

o If y < -1 then
|y|>|y+1|
<=> -y > -(y+1)
<=> 0 > -1 .... all y such that y < -1 are solutions

o If 0 > y >= -1 then
|y|>|y+1|
<=> -y > (y+1)
<=> y < -1/2 .... all y such that -1/2 > y >= -1 are solutions

o If y >=0 then
|y|>|y+1|
<=> y > (y+1)
<=> 0 > 1 .... Impossible... No y here.

Finally,
y < -1/2
