Wasn't a huge fan of New Haven. The first thing people say about New Haven is that you have to avoid the bad parts of town. This one student was telling us that she doesn't walk home alone at night and you should be careful in certain parts of town.
Somehow I get a kick out of the fact that there are "bad" parts of Connecticut, I'm imagining street gangs with like Izod bandanas and Tommy Hilfiger tattoos roaming the streets at night smashing cars with croquet mallets.

Whimp! I went there a few times in college for debate tournments. I wandered around New Haven a bit. Some prostitutes and stuff but nothing too bad. Slice of life. What do you want, Ivory Tower?

Yeah I'm sure it's like every other city on the planet, has bad parts of town, but people probably just mention it more often because you wouldn't expect it in a sleepy little Connecticut college town.
That's cool about the prostitutes, they actually didn't mention those in the Yale viewbook but I'll add that to my list of "Pro's".

Ha, ha... I'm sure they are not of the high class type you are used to.
But seriously I don't get it. Is everyone such a snob at these schools that they go run home to mommy and daddy everytime they see a little poverty? I heard all that stuff when I was in college too. When I went there I really didn't see the big deal. You don't exactly have Yale students gunned down on the streets of New Haven.
