Stats:

22/female/not ethnic minority but have a physical disability/710 GMAT (93V/80M)/3.3 GPA from top 10 undergrad b-school w/ a strict grading curve, finance & international business major

~2.5 yrs total FT WE at time of apps (3 at matriculation) -- 1.5 yrs at bulge bracket IB in operations, #1 group in the industry for the particular product that I work w/ then

1 yr at a large well-regarded IM firm, still an analyst but more responsibility + lots of accomplishments (decreasing throughput time on processes, worked on a few big time sensitive projects, etc.)

Extras:

~4 yrs of PT work w/ a small non-profit during college: highlight revamped their internet site & webmastered it (4 yrs) plus set up & ran a successful computer program to teach kids w/ disabilities computer skills (2 summers)

~cofounder of student club + treasurer for 2 yrs

~member of honors fraternity while in college, did some volunteer work @ local school through that

~2 yrs volunteering w/ Tribeca Film Festival

~career mentor for a program for low-income adult with barriers to employment (~4-5 hrs per week for ~13 weeks)

~mentored a college kid for the national disability mentoring day while @ bank & helped the bank run the event

~paid internship for a top consulting firm serving non-profit clients (fundraising research) summer before my sr yr of college

~various public speaking engagements: speaker/panelist at a number of disability/employment panels (one national conference for disability org, several company ones), 1 of 20 students chosen to serve on a panel on diversity for admin & staff at my uni, panelist for undergrad admissions event

~Olympic Torchbearer

~ on the Exec Committee & Cabinet (group of 5 lead advisors to the President of the organization) of a start up mixed for-profit/non-profit entity that is working on setting up the first 24/7 television network by, for and about people w/ disabilities (sort of like what African Americans did w/ BET) and a summer training institute for youth with disabilities. right now we're all volunteers and in the early stages so i'm doing business development/doc preparation/research/spreading the good word/just about anything that needs to get done!

Goals: short-term: MC in an entertainment/media industry group long-term: MC partner if I can help it, help grow TV venture (above), plus eventually want to open my own non-profit

app663,

All this, and you're only 22? I think your chances at all these schools -- and I rarely get to say this -- are decent to good. They are obviously better at Duke, UCLA, and Yale than at Kellogg, CBS, HBS, and Stanford, but you have the special kind of profile to get into all of these schools. Just take the time to do your essays right.

Good luck,
