You know that moment where everything comes together...

I finally had one with Critical Reasoning!!!

My big problem was trying to force myself to understand that the argument has no bearing on real world situations. This may seem a bit over the top since for some people this may be easy, but for me I have to take what is in the argument as a real world generalization and then extrapolate this reasoning along all answers.

Such as for weaken questions I would relate the answers to real world scenarios and pick the answer that would literally make the argument invalid.

I finally received my Critical Reasoning Bible and thought it was just like the others and I was reading through Chapter 2 in heading, The Mind of a GMAT Author, and read this, "When you read a GMAT argument from the perspective of the author, he or she believes that their argument is sound." Other portions also helped but this one triggered an epiphany as to how I should evaluate critical reasoning. I finally understand the difference between GMAT CR and IRL CR, and it is from the terms of the actual test writers, and not some generalization a test maker found and decided to turn into a CR question.

Yes it did take 5 1/2 weeks of studying to puzzle through this conundrum, but the good thing is all of those little rules I have been pounding in to my brain can be used to their full potential.

With this newly formed understanding, my hit rate, which was around 60%, is now in the 85-90%!

I love these types of moments!

If only I could have one of these moments with Sentence Correction...
