I took the twelve-week Veritas course with Rich Zwelling, and I would highly recommend it. The course assumes a relatively hi baseline knowledge, and focuses quite a bit on more high-level strategy. This is extremely helpful. I majored in math/economics, so I expected to enjoy the quant section of the course -- and I did -- but the verbal classes were especially useful. It is very difficult to teach someone how to read, but Veritas succeeded.
Veritas teaches you tricks to rip through the first 20 questions or so with accuracy, allowing more time for the tougher questions. The ten practice tests are a HUGE help and very accurate.
My first practice GMAT was a 600, with a very low verbal, but after 12 weeks I was able to raise my score to a 730 for the real thing!
