Immense Value @ MGMAT
August 15 | 2012
The smartest decision I ever made. The bootcamp was a challenge because it was a lot of material in a tight period, but worked best for me as I invested my summer vacation into completing it, and there was a lot of work offline, but it paid off.
Going from a 500 range score to a 700 range score was exactly what I needed to supplement my profile. And as an international student it helped a lot with getting into the right mentality to play the GMAT game and not just "memorize and ace" exams as we were typically taught, but learning how the components work and the strategy to throw questions that just don't work to invest time on others was a big takeaway. The analytics were also impeccable at focusing on weaknesses and observing my own trends with time and questions to build an internal awareness of how "I" functioned in a test.

Manhattan GMAT 9-Session Prep Course
August 06 | 2012
The course was really fantastic. Patrick is a terrific teacher. I took this class in Santa Monica, CA (although that option was not listed). The nights really do fly by even though it's a long class (3 hours). Patrick makes it a lot more fun than it should be, and he'll even give you a bit of extra time - he's not someone looking at his clock for the course to end. It's definitely a lot of work, but it's all on you. The more you put in, the more you get out of it.
Also be sure to take advantage of the free private sessions. Best way to get the most out of those is to prepare questions in advance, or ask the instructor to look at previous practice tests.

Two thumbs up - Great Program

My time with Manhattan GMAT was well spent. When I started the course I was completely unprepared, not to mention I hadn't done much math between my senior year of high school and now. Not only did MGMAT prepare me with detailed books and plenty of coursework, but they have a number of resources available to students, and they are very generous with their time/practice center.
My instructor was excellent--he was clear, practical and held my attention for the whole class. In addition to strong instruction, the books were easy to read and kept me very busy.
The practice center was a helpful tool. I get anxious when it comes to test taking. Not only was I able to practice in "test-like" environments, but I was able to use the center for regular practice and homework as well. Having a quiet work space is key, and while I know it wasn't policy to have some classrooms open, every now and then when I needed to do timed drills after work, they let me use an empty classroom.
As someone else in another post mentioned, if you start to test at the top of the range and continue to take the adaptive tests, you start to run into some repeat questions, which does inflate your score. This only happens if you go through all six tests and then reset them (although it looks like they've also added a bunch of new questions along with the integrated reasoning practice.)
Overall, I had a great experience with Manhattan GMAT. I did take it twice, but I am very happy with my score. It is a high quality experience and I highly recommend the program.

Manhattan GMAT Prep Course
July 16 | 2012
The Manhattan 9-week GMAT prep course is exceptional, as are all the proprietary on-line and off-line materials associated with the course. My teacher, Jonathan S. was excellent - not only in class, but also outside, making himself available by email and through outside sessions.
They whole program went above and beyond. My score increased ~200 points. The class is highly customizable based on goals and performance throughout the program. The books are a provide a very good platform for your review and the on-line materials are extremely comprehensive. The data-driven approach makes you feel confident that your time is being spent efficiently.
I highly recommend the course.

Great Instructor, Lots of Homework, The studying is still in your hands
July 09 | 2012
I chose Manhattan prep because I read very positive reviews on their prep books and I knew I wanted hands-on instruction and a structured course to force me to study (I'm a pro at procrastination). I started studying before the beginning of my course, just reading through a GMAT official guide coursebook. I took the pre-first class practice test and got a 590. My goal is to attend a top 10 school, so I knew I had a long way to go.
Throughout the course I did all of the prescribed prep work. They estimate it will take about 15 hours (outside of the three hour class) per week. I think it could be a little less than that but... I definitely dedicated one entire weekend day to studying and a few hours a few days a week to studying. I took another practice test during the course resulting in a 50 pt rise. My final GMAT score (which I took a week and a half after my final class) was 150pts higher than my initial test.
When I did contact my instructor outside of class, he responded very quickly. He was always willing to chat after class about test strategy or specific questions. Manhattan GMAT is very attentive to its students- a service that is reflected in the high price. It is very easy to reschedule a course if you need to miss.
Both Quant and Verbal review were incredibly helpful. I think the Quant instruction in the classroom is invaluable- multiple ways to solve the problems + how to NOT solve the problems + how to guess the answer if you can't figure it out? This incredibly thorough type of instruction is SO worth the money. Also, there is a wealth of information and a wealth of extra practice material on the website. The CAT tests are awesome, too.

Excellent course

I thought MGMAT did an excellent job providing all the tools that it takes to do well on the GMAT. From day 1, my instructor Kate stressed that "relearning" the fundamentals of both verbal and quant would be largely up to students during the week in between class meetings. This means doing ALL of your homework from the materials that MGMAT provides and doing ALL of the practice problems. This is not easy, but absolutely essential to being up to speed for weekly meetings.
During class, we reviewed several types of questions and talked through various strategies for solving each of them. I felt this was the biggest value add of MGMAT- the strategy portion for each different type of question- both verbal and quant. Once you are armed with a systematic approach to every question, all you have to do is practice, practice, practice. Reviewing strategy greatly reduced anxiety on test day, because I had a "game plan" for each type of problem.
Overall, excellent structure and I would highly recommend.

Great teachers, including top MBA schools graduates
May 14 | 2012
I will highly recommend Veritasprep GMAT course that I have just completed. Our teacher was Columbia MBA graduate Rob Stringham. He is very knowledgeable, professional and helpful. He would stay with us for 2-3 hours after the end of the class to answer our questions and do the problems together that we asked him about. Not at all like those teachers that behave like they know it all and you’ll never get even close to their level of understanding the topic.
He has a very personal approach to every student. If you are suffering from anxiety passing the exam he will recommend the ways to work with this issue, good literature to read on this topic and some tricks that will help you to reduce the level of anxiety about the test.
Pros:
-Online tools that include the recording of every GMAT topic and the correlating problem solving
- Great teachers, including top MBA schools graduates
- Teachers do not watch the clock. They are very helpful and friendly
-Very friendly and helpful people at the clients’ department. Mark offered me a discount for the course when he saw that I took private tutor lessons with Veritas Prep some time ago. He also proposed a bonus time with tutor if somebody of my friends will enroll with Veritas. Very client oriented company!
- Great location, Grand Hayatt in Manhattan
Cons:
-Expensive, but you can repeat the course free of charge in case if you need it.

Excellent preparation
May 10 | 2012
Manhattan GMAT's 9-week live online course was incredibly helpful in orienting me to the GMAT's structure, giving me solid strategies, and preparing me fully for test day. I really liked the instructors' approach of going through a couple problems in-depth - rather than try to cover tons of problems each time - in order to illustrate the most effective strategies. I found their quantitative strategies particularly helpful - they help you quickly eliminate options and hone in on the two or three answer options that remain.
I also found the instructors very personable and the format of the class fun. It's very participatory and engaging - and I felt like I got to know a couple other students' personalities and marvel at how they approached problems in different ways.
I scored a 680 on my first practice test. After taking several Manhattan GMAT simulations (their prep materials are EXCELLENT), I was getting 780s - the score I eventually ended up with. I was very satisfied!

Very helpful course
May 04 | 2012
I found the Manhattan GMAT course very helpful. The instructor was great at coming up with strategies to study for the exam. The books were also great and studying practice problems and explaining the solutions to the questions.
I also liked that you could go to the center and take a practice exam in an exam room setting. MGMAT also allows you to reactivate your practice exams twice after the course is over, in case you decide to retake the GMAT. I found the practice tests at the center a bit more challenging than the tests you would find on www.mba.com. All in all a very helpful and friendly experience.

Excellent Course
April 26 | 2012
Manhattan GMAT instructors are definitely amongst the smartest out there. Each instructor's style varies, but one can attend a different session, or see online videos from a different instructor if one is comfortable with that. The classes are very interactive and cover all the different types of problems one could see on the test. However, one definitely needs to practice from the OG.
I do think that the course material is geared towards getting students to the 700-730 range. If one is aiming higher, one should supplement the MGMAT coursework with the Kaplan 800 book.
Finally, MGMAT has 6 online CATs which give a real-world GMAT experience. The questions are on the tougher side, which one can't complain about if one comes out better prepared. Further, MGMAT course also allows you to practice a couple of essays on the e-grader which will provide half the score for your essays.
All said and done, MGMAT helped increase my verbal score significantly. The quality of instructors, and quality of teaching material definitely helped up my game.
