Some, but not all

Consultant: Poonam Tandon

Poonam has provided extensive reviews on my essays, recommendations and resume. When I compared final version with the first draft of my essay, I was really surprised to see the sheer change in the story building. I liked her approach of review and suggestions. When I finished first college essays, looking at the quality of the final versions, I extended my contract for other 3 colleges as well. I have already got interview call from one of the B schools and waiting for others, but this is all Poonam's effort that made me realized to think through about my past experiences and cultural backgrounds and to work hard to meet the deadlines of schools. Many a times, I was late in sending drafts to her for review but she was always on time to provide feedback and reminded me about the deadlines. I would strongly recommend her application services to other applicants.

Thanks Poonam for all your support in my applications!

Poonam did excellent job reviewing the essays and provided goood recommendation to cut the uneccessary words. She also suggested good flow for our story. She completes the work pretty quickly. So if you are using her for eassy review and editing she is great.

But one draw back is that she didn't suggest any advice/strategy that is school specific. I don't believe she was part of any schools admissions committee.
I would recommend her essay review service, but try her service with one essay review to understand her style and then decide if you are willing to go for school packages.

It is always better to test the waters before taking a deep plunge right.

All the very best with your application!

Hello Mohan,

Congratulations on getting accepted into Chicago Booth with a 690 GMAT score. It must be a rewarding experience to study at a school that out rightly rejected your application and dismissed your candidacy last year because you worked on your application by yourself. Since Chicago was your dream school, you had no desire to look into any other school and hence the topic of other schools never came into our discussions.

Overall, I am so glad that my two weeks of guidance and assistance on your Booth essays helped you realize your much cherished dream.

Thank you for recommending me to others.

Best wishes,

Poonam

myEssayReview was suggested to me by Rajat Sadana of e-Gmat. I wanted to work with someone who understands an Indian applicant especially because my profile is quite different from other Indians’ profiles. Hence myEssayReview became an easier choice.

In the free consultation, Poonam suggested that I should discuss my passion for making the school education more reasoning- based from the current marks -oriented. She also suggested that I should write about ‘Raising a Mathematician’ that I had co-founded to develop research attitude in Math among school students. The half hour call strengthened my conviction to share my teaching experience and my passion for education. I signed up for one school package, and we started working.

In the initial essay draft, I was more concerned about number of words but realized from your comments and suggestions that I had not articulated my story because I was restricting myself due to word count. So in the next draft, I didn’t worry about the number of words. I was surprised to see that she downsized the essay from 890 words to 750 words without compromising on any key details of my story. There was a huge difference between the first draft and the final essay. Final essay has better clarity and brevity. She helped me build a strong resume that showcased my professional accomplishments, voluntary work, and other skills and interests effectively and succinctly. Her guidelines on the LORs were also spot on. Her turnarounds were less than 24 most of the times. In some cases, she reverted to me in a couple of hours. It was quickest near the deadline. I think the turnaround time was amazing considering the different time zone in which I was located.

Poonam is very professional and knows her work extremely well. The essay edits are very thoughtful and command over English makes a lot of difference to the essays. I am very happy to have selected myEssayReview for my application. I am happy to say that I have been accepted into Michigan State University for Ph.D. in Managerial Accounting with full scholarship, good stipend, and an additional scholarship of $ 4000 given to the best incoming student. Thanks, Poonam.

I am a military veteran and I was looking to apply to R2 UNC and Stern. I was interested in myEssayReview because it was cost effective, and it outlined an adherence to a strict schedule. I requested for free consultation call to clarify some doubts .The meeting went great, and soon after I signed up for 5 essays, and we started working. I was hesitant at first, but as we progressed I noticed a remarkable improvement from the 1st draft to the finished product. Poonam’s counseling helped me choose the right content/stories for the essays that showcased my candidacy in the best manner. I thought these were very well thought out. I like the negative and positive feedback. Often times people will just tell you what you want to hear, but this is a situation where you need honest feedback and criticism. Prior to writing Poonam sent along documents that outlined what should go in each paragraph. I found this to be very helpful since I do not write for a living. I also liked how she assisted in transitioning each paragraph to relate to one another to make a strong story with great flow. Also, she was perfect in editing my essays to achieve the allowed word count. I never had to wait for her feedback or response to my emails as she was always prompt with her responses and always reverted to me within 24 -48 hours, sometimes sooner...

Thank you for all the work!  I love all of the essays that we have worked on.  I interviewed with UNC and was accepted to NYU MSRED program.

Overall, I had great experience of working with Poonam and I am leaving this feedback to potential customers. I also referred some of my co-workers to her once they started the application process.

I knew that I needed someone with experience and skill to guide me through the SOP as it has been emphasized numerous times that exam scores wouldn't matter much if I couldn't convince the admissions team that I was worth giving a chance to. I was shifting from the Engineering stream to Economics and Finance and I needed an iron clad story. And myEssayReview comes with excellent commendations about the same.

Poonam scheduled a free consultation meeting that helped clarify the major doubts I had about the sop and CV and I was able to discuss my unique case and the aspects of my education that could be highlighted in the essay to make it convincing. After the meeting, I felt confident about signing up. The one hour session after the first review of SOP was insightful.I know that I would not have included a number of key points in my SOP if I wasn't encouraged to do so. Poonam helped me strategically highlight certain aspects of my personality to make me sound intellectual and focused on my career. I wanted to highlight my interest in teaching and pursuing an academic career as the main reasons of my eligibility to the program. Poonam helped me frame them accordingly. After four iterations, my SOP sounded crisp and succinct and did not have the redundancy it would have had if I was left to my own devices. The PhD in English shows.

My biggest worry with the recommendation letters was that the admissions team would know that I was involved in the writing process. Poonam’s idea of delegation proved to be rather clever and the ultimate solution to my problem. This way, they echoed my SOP but sounded different. I did have more doubts than the average candidate, but Poonam helped me work around them. Her replies were very prompt; I received her edits and response to my email 24 hours on the dot. As punctual as her website says.

Applying to grad schools can be a terrifying experience. I am very glad to have had an expert help me with the SOP, CV and LORs. That gave me enough confidence to wade through the rest of the process with significantly less worry. I was accepted by all the schools I applied to ,and I am thrilled to begin my graduate studies at the University of Warwick this Fall.Thank you, Poonam. You've been amazing. You managed to assemble my whirling dervish of ideas into an essay that sounded compelling.

There were mainly two reasons why I decided to sign up for myEassyReview services.

First, I had a low GMAT score and the only things which were strong with my profile were my community service, my goal in life and my professional accomplishments. I wanted to make sure that I presented all these parts of my profile in such a good way that it would cover for my very low GMAT. And I felt there wouldn’t have been anyone except Poonam who could do that for me. Second, from what I could find about Poonam, I came to know about her honesty and about her straight forwardness, and I wanted someone who could provide an honest feedback. So I requested for free consultation meeting.

The free consultation meeting was as expected. I had mailed Poonam about my plans, goals and the schools that I was targeting before the meeting itself. During the consultation meeting, she provided me with her honest feedback and left everything on me to decide if I wanted to work with her or not. This really made me feel she is someone who is seriously concerned about the future of her students, so I signed up for 1 school package, and we started working immediately. We first worked on the resume and then picked up essays.

I believe the art of putting the right content for the right question is something that Poonam has mastered over the years. All I had to do was to come up with the ideas/stories that I was planning to use for the question and she would give the best of her suggestions. I feel one needs to have years of experience to give the type of suggestions that I received. Thank you Poonam! Another thing I really liked about Poonam’s style was the way she edited essays. It was professional and with all the drafts and edits in the same document you can easily figure out how well your essay has transformed with each edit. For my essays, she connected the dots well and gave a perfect structure.

I believe to bring down the word count is the most difficult part of MBA essay editing. But with Poonam, I would say you can write your content without really caring about word count and leave it up to her to convey the same thing in a more concise manner and I am pretty sure she will be able to do it and that too in the most efficient way. Once she knows your story, she can bring them up in the most beautiful way you would have ever imagined. As for her turnarounds, got all my edits/ re-edits within 36 hours, to be specific. Not only that, Poonam made sure she responded to all my questions/doubts on time and to say the least, despite her busy schedule, she is up to each and every task.

I would say if you are looking for a genuine consultant who would work for your better future, there cannot be anyone better than Poonam. May she continue to help, and I am pretty sure her students will have a great experience working with her. I would also like to request everyone to make sure you do your work before sending drafts to her. I made sure my drafts were written to the best of my ability before sending them to her.

Although I had already written most of essays and was confident that they were good, I decided to sign up for a single essay review service so as to double check the quality of my work. I signed up for myEssayReview because it was highly rated at GMAT Club, and because it offered very competitive pricing for a one essay review. After completing the review process with Poonam for this essay, I realized that she helped me to elevate the quality of my essay to an entirely new level! As a result, I decided to sign up to essay review to six schools I applied as well as résumé review. Here is my feedback on my experience of working with Poonam:

Understands you as a person: Poonam was interested in understanding my whole story as an applicant and as a person, though I had initially just signed up for a one essay review. In addition, I could also understand her background and method of working, which helped us to work productively while not losing sight of my goals and characteristics. She provided me valuable advice on my school selection, application strategy, time management, and even résumé improvements, all of which were not part of the scope of my original service hired.

Delivers a Clear Sentence Structure: Poonam demonstrated that my first drafts had stories with unnatural flow, frequently lacking a clear link between the story and the point I was trying to make. Once we identified the point, then we discussed on how each part of the example was supporting the point. This method was vital not only to stay focused on my key messages but also to trim side arguments and reach the tight word limits. Poonam used an effective and elegant word choice - not overly sophisticated vocabulary. As a non-native speaker, I found it so helpful because I wouldn´t be comfortable with words that I would never write on my essays.

Effective Edits: Effective editing/trimming of essays is one of Poonam’s main strengths. I frequently sent her very large essays thinking, there is no way to achieve the allowed word-limit – but she consistently delivered on the word limit! In addition, I found helpful that she offered my choices on what contents to sacrifice or details to omit, so that I was able to consciously evaluate the trade offs and make choices that maintained the essence of my examples.

Results speak for themselves! In the end, I was interviewed to all of the six schools I applied, admitted to four of them (Kellogg, Berkeley-Haas, Yale SOM and UCLA Anderson) and waitlisted at Stanford GSB. Plus, three of them offered me substantial scholarships! Kellogg-70K scholarship (Donald Jacobs scholarship), Yale SOM - 20k scholarship , UCLA Anderson -70k scholarship. Now I’m heading to Kellogg with scholarship! I had never imagined I would be so successful. Without doubt, Poonam has contributed substantially!

Beyond being admitted to my dream school with scholarship, I gained a lot from working with Poonam. I improved my writing and critical thinking abilities, and also had a great time working with Poonam. Thank you Poonam for your guidance.

I had an unsuccessful application last year and was looking to work with someone with experience in helping students achieve their dreams. I read excellent reviews on GMAT club and on the website itself. So I requested for free consultation meeting. The meeting was great. But most importantly, Poonam reviewed my resume and told me that it was way below par. This really put me on my toes and confirmed my decision to sign up for her services.

We started working immediately and from the beginning, Poonam’s guidelines helped me introspect. I definitely had to put more effort in thinking creatively to come up with a story-like approach for my essay. I bookmarked her essay analysis on GMAT club and read it over and over again until I could come up with a creative answer for the question asked. For every part of the question asked, having an idea of how many words should be used and the examples helped me construct my essay which was polished and refined with the help of her guidelines. She gave me the sort of strict feedback I required in my first essay, and I think because of that the other essays went smooth

After putting together all the details of the story, the most daunting task was trimming it to the allowed word limit, and I was totally stunned to see that no detail was lost even when she trimmed essays from 750 odd words to 600 words. Absolutely amazing!! Needless to say that she took care of all grammatical aspects really well. Word choice to emphasize certain aspects was also fantastic that helped pruning words.

Lastly, I was extremely happy with her turnarounds as we finished our work quickly. Our last 3 essays finished in an average of 3-4 days.

I had a great time working with Poonam. She takes a lot of interest in your application, and it reflects in the work that is produced. Even after wrapping up the application, I kept in touch with her whenever I had any questions/concerns, and she promptly responded back.
I have received 3 admit offers ( Smith, Carlson, and Boston )with generous scholarships. As a re-applicant, I couldn’t have asked for more. Thanks a lot for your help, Poonam. I've waited so long for this moment (3 GMAT attempts and 2 application seasons) and was over the moon when I saw the Smith mail(my first admit). Your guidance was key and it helped me better my application 100x when compared to last year.

Yay!! I made it to Chicago Booth weekend program for spring 2016. I can't exactly describe how happy I am today. My interview was last weekend on 8 Jan at gleacher center and got the result this afternoon .Thank you so much for your expert guidance ...I stumbled across your service/ profile on GMAT club forum, and I am so glad I did!!.

Working with you was an extremely enriching experience for me. You helped me immensely with my essays and recommendation letters from start to finish. Not only this, in times of dilemma on choosing stories, you guided me in the right direction. You are very professional and thorough to work with. I was seriously impressed by your personalized attention to all my essays and LORs, unlike other cookie cutter consultants. I know I have tried your patience initially with me delaying my apps start date. But, nevertheless, you helped me sail through this whole process well before time.

I followed your advice verbatim for the interview. And it was spot on... I have gotten invite from Kelley too, and I am pretty confident I will get from Kellogg too if I submit, but it would be too foolish to throw Booth convert away. First interview and first convert of season ... Could not have started 2016 on a better note. My new year is really Happy!!! Thank you for being the Krishna of this Arjuna. Words can't thank you enough!! I would recommend you to anyone I know in a heartbeat.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart !!

I felt pretty confident in my overall ability as an MBA applicant, so I was not necessarily looking for a complete MBA consultant package. Instead, I searched mainly for a consultant that would help me ‘tell my story’ through my essays. Telling a story can be difficult, and it becomes incredibly more challenging when you only have 300 words to do so. After researching many other MBA consulting groups and their “a la carte” services, I decided to sign up for the free evaluation session with myEssayReview. Based on the research I had done, the evaluation session, and the reviews on GMAT Club, I knew that myEssayReview would be the resource I would need to succinctly tell my stories in as much detail as possible.

The 1-hour initial meeting that we had after Poonam did the first review of my resume and essays was VERY helpful. The questions that were asked about each essay helped me come up with a plan on how to tackle the first rewrite of each piece. When it would come time to work on the next essay, I would simply pull out the notes I had taken from our initial review and use them as guidelines to rebuild the essay. The initial review gave me the toolset and understanding I needed so that I never felt unprepared when I was doing my personal edits.

From Poonam’s feedback, I could understand how a reader (knowing nothing of the story I was trying to tell) would interpret the details and what questions they would ask. Those questions helped me eliminate unnecessary explanations while bolstering the areas in my story that not only drew the most attention, but also helped most to support the final conclusion. The guidelines she provided for the structure of my essays were very logical and, once followed, made my stories flow so much more clearly. I felt that my initial essays told a story adequately, but were difficult to follow and left readers asking a lot of questions. By reading through each detail carefully and showing me how it all pieced together, she was able to design a framework for each story that flowed naturally and was simply easier to read and understand.

Moreover, Poonam’s ability to trim my word count was very effective. In fact, I was very impressed at times when I would receive an edited draft back from her and see she had cut large groupings of words with no negative impact to the story! It’s amazing to me to see how many unnecessary words I would write simply because I thought that they were required, when in fact the entire idea could be replaced with 3-4 words and retain the overall impact of the detail.

I was very happy with Poonam’s stylistic design and word choice. I felt that the improvements she suggested made the story flow much more clearly, while showing the necessary writing finesse. Once completed, my essays demonstrated a solid mastery of intellectual writing that is necessary at the MBA education level. Also, turn-around was fantastic! I could always count on her timeliness, and I never felt rushed or worried that we wouldn’t have time to complete all of my essays. In fact, Poonam even notified me of her personal vacation scheduled close to Emory’s deadline and worked diligently to help me finish my application two weeks early! To the highest degree, she always gave me excellent feedback and helped me submit the absolute best work I could have submitted, which is exactly what I was looking for in our partnership.

Poonam was a pleasure to work with, and I loved discussing my stories with her! I didn’t feel like she was simply there to help me do my work and then move on. Rather, she took an interest in my stories and asked genuine questions about me and my life, which, in turn, helped me write even better and in more detail. I would GLADLY recommend Poonam to friends and colleagues, as well as anyone who is looking for the perfect resource to help them get the most out of their MBA essays. In fact, I’ve already passed on her contact information to someone I met at a networking event.

Poonam helped me turn my ideas into wonderful short stories that obviously appealed to the Ad Com immensely. I am admitted to Emory for both the 1-year and 2-year programs with generous merit-based scholarship: $45,000 if I choose the 1-year program and $60,000 if I choose the 2-year program. My main choice is the 1-year program as my background and post-MBA goals fit well into that program's rigor and accelerated curriculum, and I believe getting back into the workforce quicker is most ideal.

Poonam was an incredible resource, and I am so thankful for her personal hard work and dedication to my MBA dreams.
