Great course to help you improve on the weak points

Veritas Prep instructors are among the top 99% scorers on the GMAT. Matt helped me gain 70 points with two months of studying. I was scoring around 590 and I was able to bump my score to 660 on the actual test. I was able to see the greatest improvement in my score in the quant section. I knew the fundamentals. However, I was still making silly mistakes and did not know how to tackle the difficult questions. Matt showed us all the quick tricks to get to the answers quickly and save time. This enabled me to check the answers, thus, getting rid of the silly mistakes that I was making.

The course is 6 days long: 48 hours total. It is very involved and you do get engaged in the learning process all day long. Overall, I am happy with the improvement on my score. I worked on all the books thoroughly and then did the OG13 questions at the end for the preparation.

Personal Recommendation for Eric Maltzer

Let me start off by saying that I would definitely recommend the Veritas program. The study materials, web-interface and abundance of practice tests were extremely helpful, but the larger point I want to make is how great of an instructor Eric Maltzer is.

I have not taken any other prep courses, but I have to believe that Eric is a bit of a rogue instructor; he doesn't believe in teaching the Veritas curriculum verbatim, instead he uses the curriculum as a foundation on which to build. Eric adds his own experiences and strategies to his lessons, which makes his class invaluable. He also does a great job of instilling confidence in his students so that they can succeed on the exam. Additionally, Eric was really good about responding to emails quickly...regardless of the time of day. For example, I emailed Eric two weeks before I took the exam for some last minute advice, and within two hours Eric responded via email and scheduled a time for me to call him the next night, even though he was away on a business trip. Great guy. I felt totally prepared (albeit a little anxious) going into the exam.

One of Eric's maxims is "the GMAT is a test of confidence and poise...nothing more" and I really think there's a lot of truth to that. I took approximately 10 practice tests before the exam, and when I got my lowest score (550) it shook my confidence. But I then made the conscious effort to "buy-in" to the Eric Maltzer system, and ended up surpassing my target score (700).

Now let me give Eric an "out" just in case someone takes his course and doesn't have similar results... regardless of the instructor, you (the student) have to put in the effort. As an avid college football fan, I missed pretty much this entire season, and had to turn off numerous games halfway through, so I could study. In order to succeed you're going to have to make some sacrifices, but if you're willing to buy-in to his system, Eric Maltzer won't lead you astray.

Very helpful 6 week class for quick cramming

As I was on a short deadline to take the GMAT and apply to schools, I chose Veritas Prep because it had a 6 week course that met twice a week for 3 hours per session rather than the 12 week course that most prep companies offer.

I was impressed with the breadth and depth we covered during those 6 weeks. Our instructor, Kevin Richardson, was very good at managing and catering to the varying degrees of understanding from the ~25 students in the class. Specific to me, he provided key shortcuts to use on more difficult problems which I previously would have wasted time solving completely. Additionally, Kevin also had a great, natural sense of areas where specific people would struggle and would point out hints to people individually.

To get the most out of the 6 week class, my advice would be to make sure you keep up with the homework and really follow the guidelines on the Veritas Prep website. Do the homework before class to make sure you get the most out of the homework review and so that you can be prepared with questions specific to you. Also, take advantage of the online help Veritas Prep provides and the 15 practice exams they offer. I only got through 5 of them due to the short time frame I had, but found them incredibly helpful in my preparation since they include explanations of why each problem is answered in a certain way.

All in, I thought this class was excellent and tremendously assisted in my short preparation for the exam. Additionally, their career services staff were also helpful and willing to assist in any way possible. Everyone was very attentive, making it an overall excellent experience.

Having been out of college for 8 years when I decided I needed go back to school, I needed a lot of refreshing to get ready for the GMAT. The Veritas books are great. You get a book for each class section so you don't have to lug one giant book around. The class location is really convenient and the rooms were very nice. Rob was a great instructor, my only complaint is that, being somewhat of a brainiac, he could get sidetracked from the task at hand when his mind would take him in another direction.

I was very weak in quant having not done the material in years and the course got me to the 40th percentile on the test. Thankfully I found the verbal material extremely helpful and scored in the 97th percentile there.

IF you are going to take this class, or any class for that matter, you need to do ALL of the work assigned. It's simply not worth paying so much money for the class if you are not going to put the work in. I did put the work in and was happy with the results.

I signed up for Veritas because it has been considered one of the best, and I didn't want to mess around with inferior study materials on my 3rd go around with the GMAT.

I actually started with the books only for about a month, and then transitioned to the on-demand course - which was well worth it!!

The good:
-Comprehensive materials, tons of practice problems. Kudos to people who actually finish every book and every question.. there's A LOT of material!
-Access to great instructors. With the course, you get access to daily live office hours sessions. Biggest value of the course, invaluable!
-Easy to follow lessons. Good stuff.

The not so good:
-Mixed bag of instructors. Some instructors will blow you away and are phenomenal. Some leave me scratching my head wondering how this person could possibly be an instructor. Disappointed that not every instructor was amazing.. I mean this is a major selling point that Veritas pushes!
-Very little on test strategy. Almost all the materials are focused on foundations and concepts. I had to seek out additional materials on strategies, especially on timing.
-Could be better with statistical analysis of my performance. While Veritas has plenty of practice exams, there isn't much in the way of helping you analyze them. I took one MGMAT practice exam and was blown away by how much depth of analysis they provide relative to Veritas.
-Instructor no-shows. Huh? On multiple occasions I log in for office hours and nobody shows up. Granted, customer service was fantastic when I complained, but I still feel it's unprofessional.

Overall great experience, but given some frustrating experiences and the positive experiences with other test prep material, I feel like I got great value yet I'm hesitant to say Veritas is the best course out there.

In the end, Veritas helped me raise my score 80 points so either way, I got a great result!

Veritas was excellent at helping me prepare for the GMAT. I found myself very easily internalizing the strategies the instructors taught and applying them on the test itself. It got to the point that I would analyze the questions and answers in the same style (and, occasionally, the same voice) as my instructors. The Veritas books are exceptionally good at distilling down the core concepts, and providing plenty of practice material to become a true master of each style of question. The instructors are also incredibly personable and make a point of making themselves available as resources both during the course and after.

Loved Class structure

The Veritas structure is efficient and logical. Every class has a topic and book assigned to it where you must do the skillbuilder section before class. I had a hard time getting through all the work since I was working at the same time and rarely had time to do anything outside of work. That unfortunately means that I did not get the most I could have from the course but nonetheless, I did learn a lot of the ins and outs of how to look at the GMAT. I still have all the books and access to the online prep material so I will be self studying with all the tools class has given me. Not ideal but Veritas was very helpful and would have been ideal if I did not have work distracting me.

I only had about a month and a half to prepare for the GMAT, so I was looking for a course to give structure to my preparation. The Veritas Prep course was exactly what I was looking for. I took one of the GMAC practice tests from their website as a diagnostic at the beginning of my course, and then scored 70 points higher on the actual GMAT.

Neil is a great teacher, always making sure every student in the class understands why an answer is right or wrong. The online materials are great for review of previous classes in case you need it. For each lesson, there are about 100 homework problems, which I found to be more than enough practice. The only issue is that there are typos in some of the homework problems in the books, but you can do them all online where there are no typos, or you can print out the correct pages from the internet. Either way, there are ways around the issue until they fix the typos in the next edition of books.

Overall, I would recommend this course to anyone looking to improve his or her score on the GMAT.

I honestly chose this course because it was the most expensive, because my father always told me you get what you pay for. A high quality GMAT course is a worthy investment toward my MBA goals.

The course did not disappoint. I took the November-December 2012 Full Course in Houston, Texas taught by Mark Alan Robinson. Mark made the class very engaging and interactive. If I had questions after the class he stayed to answer and would respond to emails timely. Veritas Prep books are good but Mark made them better. I am not sure i would have had my experience with someone teaching from the books verbatim.

I recommend Veritas Prep and if possible choose the course with Mark Robinson.

I'm glad that a friend recommended Veritas Prep's August 2012 Weekend Full Course in Houston, Texas. Veritas Prep's course format, materials, quality & quantity of online resources, support and faculty are top notch. And, my professor Mark Alan Robinson was great: he's very personable and approachable, and he keeps the class entertaining.

Mark presents tough material in a way that isn't complicated -- kindergarten style -- and gives helpful tips/tricks that aren't in the Veritas books. More importantly, Mark ties the material to real, practical business decisions and everyday life so students learn how to think like a CEO. THANKS MARK & VERITAS PREP FOR ADVANCING MY M.S Accounting PROCESS!
