Based on my experience, Veritas Prep has the best GMAT prep course out there. Before i started the Veritas Prep weekend course, i was using Kaplan and the GMAT prep books but did not see any improvement in my practice test scores. I wasn't able to get pass the 500 level. With Veritas Prep, i went from 470 to 640 in six weeks. The teacher/tutor, Ravi Sreerama, was amazing in his teaching skills. He showed me tricks to solve problems i was struggling with and therefore save time in the quant section. As a non english native speaker, i knew i had a disadvantage in the verbal section but still Ravi encouraged me to learn from my mistakes and simply apply the Veritas Prep methods.

I am still amazed at how fast i was able to go from 470 to 640 and all this wouldn't have been possible without Ravi's tricks and words of encouragement.

Thanks to Veritas Prep and double thanks to Ravi

Mark is very influential in driving his students to succeed both on the GMAT and in life. Mark is quick to identify hurdles in students lives that will limit their success and helps them plan ways to overcome them to get to the next level. I really like Mark because he is 'to the point' and doesn't waste time, but also respects the growth process and the spiritual and family side of life.

As a teacher Mark holds the classes attention very well and helps expand our understanding of how the GMAT tests our knowledge by linking the teachings to work-life examples. Marks use of language and buzz words really helps drive home the lessons to make sure you remember what you learn. I can still remember his catch-phrases and advice for the GMAT even after taking the test because of his presentation skills and connection with the students.

My verbal jumped 7 points to break the 40 point barrier. I solely attribute this to Mark's teachings and explanation that pattern recognition and quantitative skills are extremely useful in the verbal section if you learn how to use them. I am an engineer by training and was able to learn how to use my quantitative skills to beat the GMAT verbal section.

So I attended a live online course at Veritas Prep with Ravi Sreerama from 9 September to 18 October 2015.
First, I must mention that I am Nigerian and also attended all my online classes from Nigeria where a steady and reliable internet is not a given. I, eventually, was able to get a moderate internet supply and was able to attend these classes. I am quite surprised at how Veritas made this so easy that it seems like I was part of the physical class by the use of side chats with Brigidette, follow up chats with Ravi during breaks and polls during classes.
Secondly, I was privileged to be tutored by The best; Ravi Sreerama. I know he's the best because I have interacted with a couple of tutors, had another tutor stand in for him on Word Problems, and have also attended some classes such that I can easily stack them against each other. He has this uncanny ability to break problems down, make them look simple and also get you thinking in a particular way; thinking more like the test maker. In his words, 'if you can't spot the sucker answer, you just picked it', 'fractions are friendly, decimals are deadly', 'sometimes, you just need to dump it down', 'always use the reward chart to validate your answers'... He is gifted and maybe, you don't want to be tutored by someone else. He follows up on his students during the week, tries to understand areas where one is struggling during class and off the class, and also motivates you to push your limits. Veritas is lucky to have him.
Thirdly, Veritas has a structure or method of learning coupled with materials that ensures you have the fundamentals, hone your skills, and master the test. So from Skillbuilders to classes with Ravi, to homeworks, on-demand courses, practice tests, online tutors to respond to questions and help you out with difficult problems etc, you are well equipped to score in the 90th percentile. You shouldn't miss it.
I am well equipped to succeed in my upcoming exam next month. At the moment, I comfortably score above 700.

I cannot recommend Veritas prep and instructor Ethan Todras-Whitehill enough. I initially began studying for the GMAT in isolation and found it overwhelming. Learning in a class with other students and a fantastic teacher made a huge difference. Ethan knows the GMAT inside-out and has pulled off a small miracle by actually making it kinda fun to study for. (He also can recite entire scenes from 'The Princess Bride' from memory and make it relevant to a data sufficiency problem ... so honestly, what more convincing do ya need?) Start to finish, I boosted my score 130 points and broke into the 700s.

Do not be dissuaded by the online class format; I was skeptical at first, but Veritas has made the interface highly interactive and easy to use, and Ethan goes out of his way to get to know his students and keep them engaged. The study resources on the Veritas website are great – extensive problem sets, detailed answer explanations, multiple practice exams and tailored assessments of your content-area weaknesses and time management on exams. For something as high-stakes as the GMAT, a prep course is a very worthwhile investment, and you really cannot go wrong with Veritas and Ethan.

Baackground- I have been out of school for a while, so I needed a good kickstart of the GMAT. If you have been away from school, taking a course like Veritas Prep is vert helpful.

Instructor- I was very impressed with our instructor, David. He was always trying to engage the class and was very peppy every day.

Coursework- To improve at the GMAT, you need to put in the work. Sometimes the classroom sessions are not necessarily hard enough or the class gets stuck on an easy problem. The homework and the 7 extra tests Veritas gives you is very beneficial. You should really do the homework or as much as you can between lessons. If you come prepared before class and do the work after class your score will improve.

To note- Our instructor did recommend that you actually do some real GMAT questions leading up to the test. So, that is what I did. Veritas gave me a great foundation and about two weeks before the test, I really studied all official GMAT materials and got the score I needed.

When I decided that I want to do my MBA and did an online GMAT demo test. My score was really poor.

I enrolled in the Veritas Prep On Demand Course - It was amazing! The program is structured very well and I watched all of the videos and did a lot of exercises.

By the end of the preparation, I took a test and I realized that my score did not improve so much. I felt that I need a more strong preparation so I bought in-person class with other company.

I think this course is well structure, but I felt that was not enough to achieve a higher score.

Overall, I think the "On demand" package is a great value and provides hours of study materials.

I have taken two preparation courses. The first was the Veritas prep and the second the manhattan prep.

My first course was taken 2 years ago - the books were ok (at the time they seemed very good but after using the MGMAT prep ones I find the Veritas below average).

I found this course a great refresher on test fundamentals but lots of extra practice required. I cannot perform well only with this course as it content is done only to well the 550 / 600 achievers.

In my opinion you don't have to spend to much money to learn the content for a 600 score. But, if you spent, go for Manhattan Prep.

I can’t recommend Ethan Todras-Whitehill enough. When I signed up for my course with Ethan, I had already taken the GMAT once and was worried that I wouldn’t be able to break through the ceiling I had hit after a few months of study. Almost all the test materials I had previously encountered centered on the idea that to beat the GMAT one must master and apply certain necessary tricks and strategies. In his instruction, Ethan covers these tricks and strategies and is quite adapt at illustrating when each should be applied; however, what sets him apart is his ability to transform each GMAT into a series of decisions. I think this is what most companies are trying to get at when they say “think like the test maker,” but there is a distinct difference between memorizing and identifying patterns and truly understanding the test’s underlying logic. To do this isn’t easy, but Ethan’s ability and willingness to work through the underlying logic on questions, and even answer questions about how the answer would change if a certain piece of information were to change, is exceptional and made all the difference for me.
I would recommend the in-person class; however, with Veritas there is always the option to retake the course. In my case, I started, but did not complete Ravi’s online course, and then a few months later took Ethan’s in person class. Given that the formats differed, I can’t make a true comparison between the two instructors, but do feel there is more depth to Ethan’s instruction, which can make all the difference if you find yourself able correctly answer questions, but struggle to do so efficiently. There is huge difference between taking the time to prove without a doubt that something is correct and being able to quickly know that something is logically correct. It is Ethan ability to teach the that latter that truly sets him apart.

50 Points

Taught by: Chris Kane

I thoroughly enjoyed having Chris Kane as my main Veritas Prep Live Online GMAT prep course, with a shoutout to Brandon Pierpont as my course TA. With this class, I was able to raise my score 50 points from my best practice test to my final score in just over a month. My study schedule (1 month) proved to be rather aggressive and I wouldn't necessarily recommend anybody duplicating it (there were a lot of materials and strategies to master), but it's certainly possible to get a strong score in a short time working with Veritas and Chris/Brandon.

I can't reccomend Chris enough. He literally helped write the books that Veritas uses in its course, and he knows his stuff. I feel like if we could have stumped him in our class, we would have. I don't think it's possible. He is a great communicator and highly engaging, which is understandably a difficult thing to do in the online format. But I feel like he had a strong rapport with each of us, and even encouraged fun banter among the students. This made the class sessions welcomed parts of my weekly routine.

I felt the course books did an excellent job of introducing the material one needed to understand going into the GMAT. The course itself introduced strategies I found extremely useful, including in areas in which I felt I was already strong. The homework problems drove everything home for me. If I had one issue with the program, it was that I felt the Veritas practice tests were significantly harder than the GMAC practice tests. While I agree with Veritas that it is better to offer a practice test that is harder than the real GMAT than one that is easier in that it will challenge the student more, I felt discouraged when I saw my scores were not making progress. I felt at that point in time I was more in need of a confidence boost than a gut check, but I suppose that's not what everybody needs in order to excel. Anyway, all turned out well for me in the end, so I can't complain too much.

Overall, I highly reccomend this course and format, and if you can get in with Chris Kane, do so!

Ethan was a great teacher and honed in on the fundamental's for GMAT success. He is easy going and brings humor into the lessons to lighten the mood while giving great tips on how to master the GMAT material. He goes above and beyond to answer questions and encouraged us to challenge every GMAT question to find out not only why the correct answer was correct, but also why the wrong answers were wrong. I strongly recommend Veritas and Ethan for any student's studying. Ethan opened my eyes to the tricks the GMAT attempts to play on the test-takers and how to tackle tough problems efficiently.
