I highly recommend Brian Prestia. Here’s why…
To give you a quick summary I improved a total of 60-70 points: in Quant 7 points (from 40 to 47) and in Verbal 6 points (34 to 40). My background is in Accounting and Finance so I thought* I would do well in Quant. That was not the case as I struggled to improve my GMAT quant skills.
I worked with Brian on mostly Quant over 5 sessions. I did 2 session of Verbal with Brian. By the time I started working with Brian, I had taken the GMAT once and booked 2.5 months of study time (mostly MGMAT). Brian first spent time learning about my strengths and weaknesses and guided me through developing a strategy that would work for me. Over our 5 sessions, I covered almost many of the different Quant question types, focusing more on the problem areas of course. The most important thing Brian taught me was to approach the quant section with logic and problem solving instead of using purely Algebra or mathematics. This may seem like a simple thing to do but it took a while to get use to this. Brian also helped me develop strategies for each question that cater to my strengths and go around my weakness. Brian shared his knowledge of the different question types and taught me how to think from the perspective of the test makers. After studying with Brian, I was able to develop a clear strategy for guessing, time management, multiple choice and data sufficiency problems. And on a deeper level for each type of question, for example how to approach a Data sufficiency Geometry question or numbers property question.
After meeting Brian and learning from him, I felt like I had wasted a lot of time learning everything, when I should have been focusing on developing strategies that cater to my strengths and practicing problem solving, not solving algebra and math problems.
For Verbal I only did two sessions, but I think Brian’s approach to Reading Comprehension and Sentence Correction really improved my score. He taught me how to use logic and reasoning to answer the questions and to focus on the why in the RC and to use reasoning for SC. I must have missed that in the MGMT guides. I’m sure I could’ve improved more on Verbal if I spent more time with Brian.
Brian was real with me and gave me the confidence and the tools to tackle the GMAT. He helped me develop a customized approach and was patient with me as I began to see and understand that test as he does. There is no doubt that Brian is a GMAT master. He is also a very calm and kind human being.
Having said all this, you still need to put in a lot of time and effort to get the score you want.

I went with a personal tutor over a class because I knew I had specific strengths and weaknesses, and a class would be less helpful for me than a tutor in targeting those weaknesses. David was an overall great tutor. He was patient and friendly, and he took the time in the beginning to understand me, my background, and my goals for the GMAT and beyond. He was quick to then move right into carefully selected practice problems that targeted my key weaknesses (mainly Math). These problems were challenging, but David was right there to guide me through a problem or provide a much needed hint. The overall process (as suggested by David) was a combination of practice problems with David, practice at home with the official GMAT guide, and two practice exams made up of real retired GMAT questions. This process allowed me to quickly and efficiently improve my scores and my comfort with the GMAT. After only 3 weeks and 12 total hours with David, I went from barely cracking open a GMAT book to achieving a score that was even better than what I had originally hoped for. Thanks David!

Brendan was a fantastic tutor during my GMAT preparation. He planned our sessions tailored towards my weaknesses and explained it in a simple way without sacrificing the quality of the material. Also, Brendan always shared strategies and tips for the test that helped me improve my score and timing. Even after our sessions were over, Brendan was personally invested in my success by checking regularly on my progress during the practice tests. Brendan was a key factor in my preparation and 90 point improvement on my overall GMAT score.
I would recommend Brendan as a tutor especially if you are considering Veritas Prep!

I consider myself very lucky to have had Brandon as my GMAT tutor. Brandon combines an extremely practical way of approaching the GMAT with a winning attitude. One of the most helpful things Brandond did with me was walk me through an entire GMAT test and show me how he would approach the problem. It was an education that no book, online course, and very few tutors could replicate. It was extremely liberating to know that there were simple logical ways of solving even the most difficult problems.

Brandon's attitude was one of unwavering confidence in my abilities to get a phenomenal score. Even when I would hit a plateau and not seem to be progressing Brandon would encourage and keep me going. He had a winning attitude the entire time and that attitude was just as valuable--perhaps more valuable--than the problem solving skills he taught me.

Brandon was also willing to meet me at extremely odd times based on my schedule. When he was in a different time zone he would wake up a 5 or 6am on a Sunday to tutor me for three hours.

I truly cannot imagine a better tutor.

I have to say that my performance on the exam has everything to do with having Brandon as my tutor. He was professional, patient, knowledgeable, and most importantly, caring. I have never had a tutor that was so cognizant of my weaknesses and study habits. Brandon was able to give me great tips, strategy, and techniques that worked well with my personal study habits.

Brandon made himself available with my tight schedule and was always extremely positive and encouraging throughout the whole process. Before working with Brandon, my verbal score was consistently low. Brandon was able to quickly identify my main area of weakness and helped me work on it efficiently. Although my quant section was fairly strong, Brandon got my quant score to be at a really competitive level.

I usually don’t write reviews—I never had an experience worth writing about until now. However, Brandon Pierpont was truly the the key to my success. I really recommend getting private tutoring with Brandon--he's really worth it!

Taught by: Aaron Pond

I opted to do a private tutor with the online course. Aaron Pond was my tutor. He is very nice, and I am sure he is a great tutor for most students. However, I didn't find the tutoring format to be helpful for me. Eventually I chose to forego the tutoring and then to go through the course by myself. I found that to be much more useful. Again, I don't mean to disparage Aaron because he was an absolute professional and a good teacher - the style just didn't work for me.

The one piece of the course I didn't care for was the practice tests. They vastly increased my scores compared to the official GMAT practice tests. If I had it to do over again, I'd take the course as a refresher, and then use the official guide and practice tests to finalize.
