It was ranked #1 in <\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/grad-schools.usnews.rankingsandreviews.com\/best-graduate-schools\/top-business-schools\/management-rankings\">management<\/a><em>. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hbs.edu\/mba\/admissions\/class-statistics\/\"><strong>Harvard Business School Class of 2014 Profile <\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>8,963 people applied to Harvard Business School in 2012; 13% were admitted and 919 enrolled.<\/p>\n<p>The Harvard class of 2014 students have an average age of 27 and a median GMAT score of 730. 43% of students have educational backgrounds in economics and business, to make that the most common educational background in the HBS class.<\/p>\n<p><strong>HBS Academics Related to Management<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hbs.edu\/mba\/academics\/curriculum.html\">Harvard Business School curriculum<\/a> is divided into two parts: the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hbs.edu\/mba\/academics\/required.html\">required curriculum (RC)<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hbs.edu\/mba\/academics\/elective.html\">elective curriculum (EC)<\/a>. That percentage is broken down further as follows: general management, 7%; manufacturing\/operations, &lt;1%; project management, 2%; other general management, &lt;2%.<\/p>\n<p>For internships, 9% of class of 2012 students obtained general management positions, with 3% in general management, 2% in manufacturing\/operations, and 3% in project management.<\/p>\n<p>Many students who focus on general management take a position in strategy consulting upon completing their MBA.
