The Yale 2013-2014 Application<\/b><\/strong><\/p>\n The Yale School of Management has released its 2013-2014 application requirements, including application deadlines, a new set of application essay questions, as well as details about application requirements. As we have seen with other top business schools this year, Yale has also overhauled its traditional MBA application in several areas, most notably including earlier round deadlines, required essays, and in the TOEFL requirement.<\/p>\n Application Deadlines<\/b><\/strong><\/p>\n The application deadlines for the Yale SOM Class of 2016 are as follows:<\/p>\n Round 1:<\/b> <\/strong>Applications due September 25, 2013 Round 3:<\/strong><\/b> Applications due April 24, 2014<\/p>\n Essay Requirements<\/b><\/strong><\/p>\n This year, Yale has followed suit with many other top MBA programs by slashing the number of required essays and severely lowering the required word count allowable in application essays. Last year, Yale required that all applicants answer four essay questions for a total of 1050 words allowable. This year, there are only two required essay questions, with a 750-word maximum. Contrasted against last year\u2019s essay questions, the Yale SOM Class of 2016 faces very open-ended essays to answer, which can allow for great creativity in allowing the admissions committee to get an insight into drives, character, and personality.<\/p>\n The Yale SOM essay questions will appear on the application as they do below.<\/p>\n Essay 1<\/b>:<\/strong> What motivates your decision to pursue an MBA? \u00a0(300 words maximum)<\/p>\n Essay 2<\/b>: <\/strong>The Yale School of Management provides leadership education for broad-minded, rigorous, and intellectually curious students with diverse backgrounds; a distinctive integrated curriculum; connections to one of the great research universities in the world; and the broad reach of an innovative and expanding global network of top business schools:<\/p>\n What motivates you to apply to the Yale School of Management for your MBA? What will you contribute to Yale and Yale SOM? \u00a0\u00a0(450 words maximum)<\/p>\n A final element being added to the 2013-2014 Yale essay requirement are video questions. In the past, the admissions board looked to essay questions to gain insight into the applicant\u2019s true character and personality. But with the rise of technology and applicants\u2019 access to technology, the Yale admissions committee believes that the best way to understand an applicant\u2019s voice is to be able to hear the actual applicant through video.<\/p>\n TOEFL Requirement<\/b><\/strong><\/p>\n A major change being made in the application is that the TOEFL requirement has been eliminated! This is a huge change for Yale, and good news for anyone who attended college at a non-English speaking university.
