The INSEAD Singapore Campus<\/strong><\/p>\n Singapore is a thriving capital for global business and the home of INSEAD\u2019s Asia Campus. INSEAD is unique in that it pioneered the way to give MBA students a genuine international, multicultural experience in being the first business school in the world to establish two fully integrated campuses with separate, permanent staff and faculty \u2013 and on two different continents, at that. INSEAD chose to establish its second campus in Asia in 1999, foreseeing the continent as representing an enormous potential for growth in economics, business and finance despite the onset of the Asian financial crisis in 1997. The prediction has become true, as today Asia acts as a major competitor within the global economic markets and Singapore itself has arguably been named the most competitive city in Asia and the third most competitive city in the world, behind only New York and London. In 2000, the campus was officially inaugurated by Lee Kuan Yew, the first Prime Minister and founding father of modern Singapore. <\/p>\n Singapore itself is at the center of South East Asian life, situated on the coast and giving easy access to Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand, China, and India, making the port of Singapore one of the busiest ports in the world. The economy of Singapore is market-based, highly developed, and extremely innovative, business-friendly and competitive. For these reasons, it is home to over 100,000 enterprises and over 70,000 multinational companies, despite being only 3.5 times larger in area than the city of Washington, D.C. <\/p>\n INSEAD students at the Singapore campus have jumped in population from a mere 53 students in 2000 to nearly 400 students in 2010, thus prompting the expansion of the Asia Campus in 2005 \u2013 two years ahead of the originally scheduled expansion. The Asia Campus offers programs for the full-time MBA, global executive MBA, PhD, as well as ten Centers of Excellence to facilitate research and other executive education programs. Although Singapore is home to four official languages (English, Malay, Mandarin and Tamil), English is the language most commonly used by administration and the language of instruction for all courses. <\/p>\n As the school terms for the Singapore and Fontainebleau campuses run simultaneously during five intensive study periods of eight weeks spanned over the year, many students choose to participate in the campus exchange program, giving students experience in both Asia and Europe.
