The Stanford Master of Science in Management for Experienced Leaders<\/strong><\/p>\n Stanford Graduate School of Business has renamed its Sloan Master\u2019s Program to the Stanford Master of Science in Management for Experienced Leaders (Stanford MSx) to reflect the key restructuring that has taken place in the program over the past two years. <\/p>\n The Stanford Sloan Program was established in 1957 at three universities including the MIT Sloan School of Management and London Business School. With partial support from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, the program provided financial support to a limited number of PhD fellows to learn alongside the program\u2019s top executives in a full-time, in-residence one-year degree program. Although the financial support ended in the 1960s, the Sloan Program has continued, branching out into a different direction at each school.<\/p>\n Over the past two years, Stanford has made substantial changes to its Sloan Program. As a result, it has rebranded the program with a new name: The Stanford Master of Science in Management for Experienced Leaders \u2013 or Stanford MSx. The changes being made are incremental to allowing the program to flourish even more in its new format. Among the changes being made, the Stanford MSx program has been extended from 10 months to 12 months, beginning in July and ending in June. Additionally, the program will increase its capacity by 57%, bringing the average capacity of each class to 88 students. Finally, the curriculum has been redesigned to better reflect the managerial experience of its students, as well as to allow greater flexibility of elective offerings. <\/p>\n Students admitted to the Stanford MSx program are highly motivated and experienced senior-level professionals. At a minimum, all applicants must possess 8 years of work experience, with a minimum of 5 years in a supervisory or managerial role. Applicants must also have completed a Bachelor\u2019s degree and submit GMAT scores. Like the new name indicates, Stanford MSx is distinctly different from Stanford\u2019s other management degree or MBA offerings. Unlike the traditional MBA program, Stanford MSx students are more experienced and represent a wider range of countries and backgrounds. Unlike the Stanford executive MBA program, which educates professionals on a part-time basis, Stanford MSx students are immersed in a full-time accelerated program, usually living on or near campus and often bringing families into the experience as well.
