How to Tackle the 2015 UCLA-Anderson EMBA Application<\/strong><\/p>\n There is still time to complete an excellent application for the 2015 UCLA-Anderson EMBA application! But first, there are a couple things you should know\u2026<\/p>\n First, take a look at the deadlines and make sure that applying is a viable option for you, given time constraints:<\/p>\n Round 1 deadline will be January 11, 2015. <\/p>\n Round 2 deadline will be March 8, 2015. <\/p>\n Round 3 deadline will be May 3, 2015. <\/p>\n Second, the most daunting part of any application is often the essay section. Anderson has revamped their essays in the past couple years, adding on a 4th essay requesting an organizational chart to be uploaded illustrating the application\u2019s unique relationship to the organization. Below are all of the essay prompts. Let\u2019s go over the three core essays. <\/p>\n EMBA Essay 1: Legendary UCLA basketball coach, the late John Wooden, once said that leadership is influence derived from one's character. Describe how as a leader, your life and character have motivated others to follow your lead by the example you set, not merely by the power of your position. (500 word limit) <\/p>\n EMBA Essay 2: What specific career goals are you looking to pursue in business school and why? How do you plan to support and achieve these goals using the resources provided by ProMBA Career Center at UCLA Anderson? (500 word limit) <\/p>\n EMBA Essay 3: Describe a time when you were stretched beyond your comfort zone and what you learned from your experience. (300 word limit) <\/p>\n EMBA Essay 4: Upload your organizational chart, either official or original, to illustrate your relationship and position to that of the C-Level and\/or Board of Directors. <\/p>\n EMBA Essay 5 (Re-Applicants only): If you are re-applying, please describe your career progress since you last applied and ways in which you have enhanced your candidacy. Include updates on short-term and long-term career goals, as well as your continued interest in UCLA Anderson. (Maximum 1 page, double-spaced, 12 point font)<\/em><\/p>\n Essay 1 essentially mirrors the same question that has been asked from previous Anderson applications: what influenced you as a leader and how do you influence others? This breaks down two main qualities of an applicant: character and leadership. Essay 2 is the essential long-term goal essay that will be seen is almost every MBA application. What are you long-term goals, how do your experiences thus far help you, and how will you plan to get the rest of the way? Last, Essay 3 is new to the Anderson application. This is your opportunity for the admissions committee to get to know you. What are your personal or professional experiences that have shaped you into who you are today? Putting together these essays excellently can be the key to making or breaking your chances of admission, especially if any of your other qualifications are not perfected.<\/p>\n In addition to the essays, Anderson will require two letters of recommendation. Regardless of which school you apply to, one of your recommenders should always ideally be a direct supervisor. It is also important to keep in mind that the average accepted student has 14 years of work experience \u00ac\u2013 10 of which includes management experience.
