Leave your comments below

MBA news straight from the top

Here’s an exclusive interview with Sangeet Chowfla, president of the Graduate Management Admission Council—the organization that writes the GMAT. So, what does the proverbial man behind the curtain have to say about MBA admissions and the overall state of business education? To sum up: 1) The MBA is back… both in value and in potential; 2) Take the GMAT, not the GRE, for business school admissions; 3) Business education has to keep up with the demands and needs of the business world. After all, this break in relations lasted over 50 years. At this very moment, there’s not a single business school on the communist island. High-quality global journalism requires investment. Tom Pugel, vice-dean of MBA programs at New York University Stern School of Business, is confident (more so than most of his peers) that the country will have its own business school within the next five years. How would you like to attend business school in Havana, reading case studies while overlooking the Malecón, mojito in hand? Why? The two will now be housed in the same building. Officials from both schools say this will allow them to integrate legal and business education. Some real good can come out of that. Actually, a healthy social life is one of the most important aspects of the business school experience. Finding that healthy balance between work and play is crucial to how well you may do, opines Harvey Berkey, CEO of online grad school guide Graduateprograms.com. The website surveyed more than 10,000 current and former MBA students to find out which business schools have the best social scene, which includes accessibility, making friends, and yes…dating. Topping the list is Spain’s ESADE, located in beautiful Barcelona. Following in second: the University of North Carolina’s Kenan-Flagler Business School.
