The billion dollar business school field trip<\/h4>\n

It’s not uncommon for students at top MBA programs to go on class field trips with significant price tags\u2014the Italian Riviera<\/a>, Cancun, St. Bart\u2019s. What is uncommon, however, is for two MBA students to go on one of these trips and create a billion-dollar company in the process. Six years ago, that\u2019s exactly what Harvard Business School<\/a> students Matthew Prince and Michelle Zatlyn did. Their five-day immersion trip to Silicon Valley netted them CloudFlare<\/a>, which provides a content delivery network and distributed domain name server system. CloudFlare now handles five percent of all Internet traffic, with over 500 billion hits every month. Had they decided to go sailing in the Caribbean instead, a good tan may have been all they would have had to show for their experience. (Business Insider<\/a>)<\/p>\n

Top MBA programs\u2014according to MBA students<\/h4>\n

As part of BusinessWeek\u2019s most recent ranking of the top MBA programs, approximately 10,000 graduating MBA students were asked to rate on a scale of 1 to 5 how strongly they concurred with the following statement: \u201cI would encourage those looking for an MBA to enroll in my MBA program.\u201d Topping the list as the most beloved business education program was Stanford University\u2019s Graduate School of Business<\/a>. Students surveyed said they liked the school\u2019s proximity and ties to Silicon Valley, where no doubt many of them want to work after graduating. Placing second was the University of Maryland\u2019s Smith School of Business. \u00a0Smith students bragged about the closeness of their tight-knit community and the \u201cno drama\u201d atmosphere. Out and about in business school<\/h4>\n

According to data provided by Reaching Out MBA<\/a>, the leading organization for LGBTQ business school students and their allies, about three percent of MBA students openly identify as LGBTQ. Top MBA programs are partnering with leaders in big data\u2014companies that are eager to hire top talent with a background in analytics. Top firms like IBM<\/a>, KPMG<\/a>, and Accenture<\/a> are investing in business education to make sure graduates are getting their letters with the right skills for the new economy.
