And that it\u2019s not uncommon that they find something that negatively impacts an applicant\u2019s admission chances? <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Not only do you have to consider every comma and turn of phrase in the applications themselves, but now you need to worry about what you may have posted on Facebook in\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.accepted.com\/2014\/03\/16\/can-you-get-accepted-after-doing-something-stupid\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the past<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0as well! <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Here are a few tips to consider when using Facebook.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>1. Make sure that your Facebook profile is for Friends only<\/strong><b>\u00a0<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(and not open to Friends of Friends or Everyone), and also remember to check that you\u2019ve selected this option for every picture that you post. This is good policy for all your social media accounts.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>2.<\/strong> \u00a0As a general rule,<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><strong>never post any comments or pictures that you wouldn\u2019t want everyone in the world to see<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. That way you don\u2019t need to worry that one of your 1300 friends will get offended by your post and simply take a screenshot of it for global dissemination. Think very hard before using Facebook as a forum to comment on a political matter, your satisfaction (or lack thereof) with your job, your affinity (or lack thereof) for a particular teacher or supervisor, etc. Go through your timeline now and delete any questionable posts from your history.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>3.<\/strong> Even if your Facebook profile is private and viewable only to Friends, you need to\u00a0<\/span><strong>keep in mind that some things are viewable by anyone on Facebook<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: all of the data you\u2019ve entered in Basic Information, the names of Groups you\u2019re a member of, the pages you\u2019ve Liked, all of the pictures you\u2019ve saved as Profile or Cover Photos, and any pictures or comments you\u2019ve posted to an open group.
