Choose wisely.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The answer, as is often the case in\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">MBA admissions<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, is\u2026it depends.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You didn\u2019t think we\u2019d give you a clear cut yes or no answer did you?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>FACT<\/strong>: The chances of gaining acceptance decrease as the rounds progress. This means that acceptance rates during R3 are generally lower than during R1 and R2. Similarly, grants and scholarships are harder to come by later in the admissions game.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Now, this doesn\u2019t mean that you shouldn\u2019t apply. Your chances of acceptance will be zero if you don\u2019t apply. They are greater than zero (even if not much greater) if you do apply.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>4 Reasons Why You Should Apply R3:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>1. You have a class of 2018 or bust attitude.<\/strong> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you really have your heart set on joining the b-school class of 2018, then you should definitely apply R3 (or even R4 if your\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.accepted.com\/Zones\/bschools.aspx\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">target program<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0offers that option). Again, you\u2019ll have ZERO chance of getting in if you don\u2019t apply.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>2. You're an admissions dream come true.\u00a0<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you are a truly exceptional candidate \u2013 stats-wise, diversity-wise, experience-wise, etc. \u2013 then you should apply R3\/R4. Not everyone is <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.accepted.com\/2013\/11\/17\/the-mba-admissions-directors-recipe-for-rejection\/\">rejected<\/a> (or there wouldn\u2019t be such a thing as late rounds) and if anyone is going to get in, it\u2019s going to be those applicants with extremely impressive profiles.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>3. You have nothing to lose.<\/strong><b>\u00a0<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you don\u2019t mind spending the extra money, time, and energy to apply now, get rejected, and then apply again during R1 of the next application season, then you really don\u2019t have much to lose going for it this year. In fact, if you\u2019re lucky enough to get feedback (that is, if you\u2019re unlucky enough to get dinged), then that feedback will prove extremely valuable when you reapply next year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>4. You were rejected R1 and have a new plan.<\/strong><b>\u00a0<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You understand that you simply aimed too high and are now ready to apply to less competitive programs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>6 Reasons Why You Should Wait Until Next Year:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>1. Your essay's still not quite right.\u00a0<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Maybe you don\u2019t have the time to create flawless essays before the R3 buzzer. In that case, it\u2019s much better to wait until you can submit something closer to perfect than to rush and send in a sloppy essay early.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>2. You plan on retaking the\u00a0GMAT.\u00a0<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you\u2019re not happy with your current <a href=\"https:\/\/www.accepted.com\/mba\/gmat\">GMAT results<\/a>, then you should wait until you can apply with that (hopefully) higher score.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>3. Your recs won't be ready.<\/strong>\u00a0<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you won\u2019t be able to secure the best\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.accepted.com\/mba\/letters-of-recommendation\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">recommendations<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0by the R3\/R4 deadline, it\u2019s better to wait for the ideal recommenders than to go with less-impressive ones early.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>4. Your work experience is weak.<\/strong><b>\u00a0<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Applying next year will give you more time to bulk up your work experience and personal profiles.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>5. You're uncertain about your goals.<\/strong><b>\u00a0<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you\u2019re fuzzy as to <a href=\"https:\/\/reports.accepted.com\/mba\/why-mba\">why you want an MBA<\/a> or your reasons for choosing particular schools, get clarity, and then apply \u2013 preferably round 1.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>6.
