{"id":32006,"date":"2016-02-01T13:12:05","date_gmt":"2016-02-01T20:12:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gmatclub.com\/blog\/?p=32006"},"modified":"2023-10-25T10:26:51","modified_gmt":"2023-10-25T17:26:51","slug":"2016-financial-times-global-mba-rankings","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gmatclub.com\/blog\/2016-financial-times-global-mba-rankings\/","title":{"rendered":"2016 Financial Times Global MBA Rankings"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Here are some highlights from the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/intl\/cms\/s\/2\/646f7384-b623-11e5-b147-e5e5bba42e51.html#axzz3yF5OILDV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Financial Times<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">' top 20 global MBA programs<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (with a few points on women in business school): <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2022 This is the first time that a one-year MBA program (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.accepted.com\/mba\/zones\/bschools\/insead\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">INSEAD<\/a>) has taken the #1 spot. The other 4 schools in the top 5 remain the same as last year, each pushed down one spot this year compared to last. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2022 New to the top 10 this year is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.accepted.com\/mba\/zones\/bschools\/cambridge-judge-business-school\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cambridge Judge<\/a> which jumped from 13th place last year to 10th this year. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2022 IESE dropped out of the top 10, moving from 7th place to 16th. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2022 7 out of the top 10 global MBA programs this year are US programs. Of the top 20, 11 are in the US. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2022 In 2005, 30% of MBA students were women. In 2015, that number jumped to 35%. 27 schools boasted a 40% female population, compared to only 4 schools with those numbers in 2005. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2022 In China, 44% of students were women, while at Renmin University of China School for Business in particular, 59% were women. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2022 Only 27% of b-school faculty members are women. But at UC Irvine Merage, that proportion is 46% (the highest in the world). <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2022 Pre-MBA, the\u00a0average pay gap\u00a0between men and women is 14%. This jumps to 19% three years post-MBA (from $9,000 to $22,000). The FT data shows that this pay gap exists for men and women at the same sector of industry and at the same level of seniority. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And now for <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/rankings.ft.com\/businessschoolrankings\/global-mba-ranking-2016\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the rankings<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> themselves:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gmatclub.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/FT-2016-Global-Rankings-793x1024-1.webp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-59617\" src=\"https:\/\/gmatclub.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/FT-2016-Global-Rankings-793x1024-1.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"793\" height=\"1024\" srcset=\"https:\/\/gmatclub.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/FT-2016-Global-Rankings-793x1024-1.webp 793w, https:\/\/gmatclub.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/FT-2016-Global-Rankings-793x1024-1-232x300.webp 232w, https:\/\/gmatclub.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/FT-2016-Global-Rankings-793x1024-1-768x992.webp 768w, https:\/\/gmatclub.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/FT-2016-Global-Rankings-793x1024-1-640x826.webp 640w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 793px) 100vw, 793px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong><i>Financial Times <\/i>Methodology<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">157 international graduate business programs took part in the survey that was used to create the FT rankings. Data was collected from the schools themselves as well as 9,800 alumni. Alumni were three years post-graduation (class of 2012), so b-schools needed to be at least four years old to qualify. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You can see the ranking criteria and their equivalent weight below.
