Consider it the Oscars of MBA rankings. Well, you won’t have to wait much longer for the latest updates. The 2017 MBA rankings will be announced on March 16. As U.S. News & World Report notes, the rankings “should be a supplement for careful decision-making, not a substitute.” We completely agree. The publication will also be releasing its rankings for graduate schools, law schools, and medical schools the same day. Many top-ranked MBA programs now boast entering classes that are at least 40% female. If you look at the percentage of business school’s faculty who are women, however, you’ll see there’s still a lot of progress to be made. At many of the top business schools, the percentage of female faculty members is below 30%, and at some schools, they are actually regressing from past gains. Here’s a closer look at the gender gap broken down by MBA program. (Poets & Quants)

From NFL to MBA

Football season may be over for the year, but some players are now keeping busy by enrolling in business school. The NFL has teamed up with the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business to help players think about life after football. “When you’re a young player, all you think about is being the best football player you can be, and it’s encouraged. Subliminally, you have to be thinking about things outside of football,” said Bradie James, who started a business career after playing football for 10 seasons. “The idea is to allow them to think through some options for their lives after their careers in the NFL,” said an official with Ross. (Fox Business)

Studying on the Riviera

Location should definitely not be everything when considering where to attend business schools, but a place with castles, casinos, and a amazing scenery sounds awfully tempting. Meet International University Of Monaco, a school that places high on international MBA rankings lists for its full-time program that can be completed in 10 months(!) and its flexible part-time program that can be completed in three years. The catch? Monaco is an EXTREMELY expensive place to live. Think Paris or London is pricey?—Monaco is downright outlandish. “Every element of the application has an importance; it gives a global picture of who the candidate is. GMAT is only recommended, whereas having the relevant years of work experience is mandatory,” says the director of student recruitment. Some applicants give them more to work with, while others are exceptionally tough. Consultants say their clients had the hardest experience with the Harvard Business School application this cycle. Stanford GSB, Chicago Booth, Kellogg, and INSEAD were also really tough. Many said Wharton and Tuck were the least challenging.
