He is attracted to design thinking.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>2.<\/strong> There are many things Ajay looks for in an MBA program: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.accepted.com\/mba\/entrepreneurship\">entrepreneurship<\/a>, application of innovation, technology management, strategic and market planning, leadership, and global enterprise, as well as classmates who share a zeal for questioning and pushing boundaries.<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Of course <a href=\"https:\/\/www.accepted.com\/mba\/zones\/bschools\/mit-sloan\">MIT<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.accepted.com\/mba\/stanford\">Stanford<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.accepted.com\/mba\/zones\/bschools\/cmu-tepper\">CMU Tepper<\/a> are no-brainers for his wish list. They offer all of the above and more. He doesn\u2019t want to retake the exam again.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\"><span style=\"line-height: 1.5;\"><strong>\u2022 CGPA<\/strong>: 7.2\/10<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\"><span style=\"line-height: 1.5;\"><strong>\u2022 Transcript<\/strong>: Holds a B. Tech from IIT Madras, class of 2011<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\"><span style=\"line-height: 1.5;\"><strong>\u2022 Work experience<\/strong>: Has been working for Tata Consulting on software consulting projects for last 3 years in the UK and Europe; previously worked for Infosys as a programmer for two years in India; can show increasing responsibility at work<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>\u2022 Extracurricular activities<\/strong>: Was active in college, but\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.accepted.com\/2014\/01\/14\/4-tips-for-writing-about-last-minute-extracurricular-activities\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">hasn\u2019t done much outside of work since then<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">; likes to play guitar and cricket<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\"><strong style=\"line-height: 1.5;\"><strong>\u2022\u00a0<\/strong>B-school timeline<\/strong><span style=\"line-height: 1.5;\">: Wants to apply in 2016, matriculate in 2017, and graduate as the class of 2019<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Where should Ajay apply?<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Reality hits. His qualifications plus his membership in the highly over-represented Indian-IT demographic make the dream schools unrealistic. And schools that would be on-par for many other applicants with similar stats and career become stretches for Ajay for that reason. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ajay will apply Round 1 to\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Darden<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, UCLA, UT Austin, and Duke\u00a0\u2013 these are all reasonable stretch schools for him. Darden\u2019s case study focus and close-knit environment will give him an immersive and transformative experience while providing ideal curriculum through the Technology specialty area and the Entrepreneurship concentration. UT Austin with its tech excellence, <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.accepted.com\/2015\/02\/18\/entrepreneurship-ucla-anderson\/\">UCLA\u2019s entrepreneurship<\/a> depth, and Duke\u2019s Entrepreneurship and Innovation concentration plus its renowned collaborative environment all excite him. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If he needs to apply Round 2, then he'll aim for UNC Kenan-Flagler, USC Marshall, Babson, and\u00a0Rotman\u00a0\u2013 the appeal of these programs is that they all offer some depth in at least a couple of key learning areas for him, while also each offering a lively, diverse network of classmates with some shared interests. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He's also considering\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.accepted.com\/2012\/08\/02\/admissions-straight-talk-interview-with-anne-perigo\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ross\u2019 MS in Entrepreneurship<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for its emphasis on building a business based on scientific\/technical innovation.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><b>Ask questions.
