That's what we are here for!\" width=\"279\" height=\"209\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">How well do you know GMAT facts?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It\u2019s time to test your\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.accepted.com\/mba\/gmat\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">GMAT<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0knowledge. How much do you know about this important b-school entrance exam?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>1. The GMAT is one of the first elements in your application the adcoms will look at.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #08bf08;\"><b>True!<\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While the GMAT is not always the determining factor for admission, it can be used as a tool to weed out applicants and it can influence a busy reader to read an application a little more quickly and critically. It is also sometimes used as a screening tool by elite investment banking and management consulting firms. For them, 700 is the magic number.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>2. There is no way to recover from a low GMAT score.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><b>False! <\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It\u2019s not easy to grab the attention of the adcom once you\u2019ve lost it with a\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/reports.accepted.com\/mba\/get_accepted_with_low_stats\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">low GMAT<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, but it is possible. To do so, you\u2019re going to need to truly blow the adcom readers away with an otherwise impeccable application. This includes\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">writing out-of-this-world essays<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, creating an impressive\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.accepted.com\/mba\/resume\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">MBA re<\/span><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.accepted.com\/mba\/resume\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">sume<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, presenting a flawless transcript, providing\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">outstanding LORs<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and \u2013 like it or not \u2013 having a\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">less-than-ordinary background<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>3. An above average GMAT score can win you an automatic acceptance at some business schools.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><b>False!<\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">No business school, even those that are lower ranked programs, will look at your GMAT score at the exclusion of everything else. If you earn a perfect GMAT score, but have no work experience, were kicked out of college due to cheating, and have six DUIs, then your score alone won\u2019t be enough to gain you a seat in any MBA program. An impressive GMAT score must always be accompanied by an impressive application. However, some schools do treat a high score more favorably than others. A school working to boost its MBA rankings may be more inclined to accept students based on their high stats than others and may also be quicker to offer merit-based financial aid.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>4. Schools care about both the verbal and quant scores.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #08bf08;\"><b>True!<\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">People tend to think that\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.accepted.com\/mba\/zones\/bschools\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">top b-schools<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0care only about the quant score of the GMAT, but this isn\u2019t true at all. Yes, being able to compute is important, but so is being able to communicate. Your verbal score indicates your ability to read and write \u2013 you can\u2019t really go to business school where the language of instruction is English (or at least not successfully) if you don\u2019t have some mastery over the English language.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>5. You should retake the GMAT as many times as you need until you hit your target score.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><b>False!<\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You SHOULD retake the GMAT two or three times, but retaking it more than five times may begin to negatively impact your application. Think of it as\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.accepted.com\/2015\/12\/20\/low-gmat-score-should-i-retake\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the law of diminishing returns for the GMAT<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: Putting forth effort to reach excellence is positive, until you\u2019ve put forth so much effort that it begins to make you look bad \u2013 like a serial test-taker\u2026or a person who keeps trying but who still can\u2019t cut it.
