You may start out thinking that you have nothing to write, but generally, once applicants begin writing, they find they have <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">too much <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">to say! To keep within those pesky word limits, you need to make sure you keep your writing succinct. How? Check your verbs. Poor usage of verbs creates verbosity. Get rid of unnecessary helping verbs.<\/b><\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Verbose<\/strong>: She is going to be applying to ten medical schools.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Succinct<\/strong>: She will apply to ten medical schools.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><b><b>2. Replace adverbs that assist prosaic verbs with more just a simple, expressive verb.<\/b><\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Verbose<\/strong>: He responded enthusiastically\u2026<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Succinct<\/strong>: He enthused\u2026 OR He gushed\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><b><b>3. Forget about \u201ctaking advantage of the opportunity to do X.\u201d<\/b><\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Verbose<\/strong>: I took advantage of the opportunity to do research on\u2026<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Succinct<\/strong>: I researched\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>4.
