{"id":42312,"date":"2018-06-26T10:49:49","date_gmt":"2018-06-26T17:49:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gmatclub.com\/blog\/2018\/06\/essay-analysis-mit-sloan-school-of-management-2018-19\/"},"modified":"2018-06-26T10:49:49","modified_gmt":"2018-06-26T17:49:49","slug":"essay-analysis-mit-sloan-school-of-management-2018-19","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gmatclub.com\/blog\/essay-analysis-mit-sloan-school-of-management-2018-19\/","title":{"rendered":"Essay Analysis: MIT Sloan School of Management 2018-19"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/mitsloan.mit.edu\/mba\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">MIT Sloan<\/a> has chosen to stick with last year&#8217;s prompts, in particular the rather tricky cover letter &#8220;essay.&#8221; The challenge here is that MIT&#8217;s adcom has a very precise notion of what they are looking for&#8211;and it&#8217;s not what you would normally write for a professional cover letter, OR what most other MBA programs are looking for.<\/p>\n<p>Fortunately, MIT does a good job of describing its particular approach to admissions. If you read the prompts and their\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/mitsloan.mit.edu\/mba\/admissions\/faq\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">FAQ<\/a>\u00a0closely, you&#8217;ll begin to see a pattern in the way this adcom thinks. Most notably, your post-MBA goals do not matter:<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8220;We do not evaluate you on why you want an MBA or what you intend to do with it afterwards<\/strong><strong>&#8230;&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The adcom also has very specific criteria for resumes, and their video prompt doesn&#8217;t allow for much creativity. Nothing in this application is radically outside the norm, but it&#8217;s important to make sure you&#8217;re following all the rules.
