Harvard Business School<\/a> kicked off the 2019-20 application season with their essay topic release this month, which means it’s time for us to kick off our\u00a0annual essay analysis series<\/a>. <\/p>\n

In these posts, we’ll give in-depth advice on how to write a compelling response to each prompt at every top business school. Some of these prompts will be new, some will be tried and true–we’ll track the changes and explain how they might reflect changes in the adcoms’ thinking. The pace of topic releases will rapidly accelerate in June, so stay tuned!\u00a0<\/p>\n

In the meantime, we start simple with HBS. Harvard’s single open-ended prompt has remained the same for years, and this year is no different. This is not surprising: arguably the world’s top business school, HBS doesn’t feel the need to change a formula that is clearly working. Their prompt is vague, challenging and somewhat old fashioned, but that won’t stop the type of applicant HBS is looking for. Let’s dive in!<\/p>\n
