Many candidates are nervous about their Executive Assessment (EA) scores because the exam is new and information about the ideal score remains limited. How high is good enough to be competitive at top EMBA programs like Columbia, Booth, and Wharton? Is 152 good enough? 155? 150?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We at MBA Admit<\/a>.com have had many candidates take the test now, and the vast majority of scores we saw in the 2018-2019 admissions cycle ranged between 152-155. The standout scores were 160 or above. A score around 146 looked low, depending on the school. This can give you a sense of things.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Some schools indicated last year what scores they desired. For example, Wharton stated to many candidates that they wanted to see at least 160 on the EA. Booth stated 150 was its norm. Columbia quoted 148 as a ballpark score for their candidates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Very competitive schools will want to see a strong quant performance. At Wharton, this means a quant score of 12. At other schools like Booth, a quant score of 10 or 11 can be satisfying.<\/p>\n\n\n\n What EA score puts you in the danger zone for a rejection based on the score? At Wharton, a 152 or lower can tilt the scales toward rejection, depending on the profile of the candidate (female candidates can get away with such a score more easily, given how few women apply; that is, women are in demand, so they typically will get some leeway on their EA score). At other schools, a score below 148 might have you in the danger zone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n There are exceptions, of course, and students can sometimes override a less-than-ideal EA score if their other qualifications are outstanding and well-presented in their applications. In cases where you have a less-than-ideal EA score, take notable efforts to put together a truly outstanding application, particularly with regard to your essay content and recommendations.
