{"id":50106,"date":"2020-10-11T06:00:00","date_gmt":"2020-10-11T13:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gmatclub.com\/blog\/?p=50106"},"modified":"2023-10-24T20:27:56","modified_gmt":"2023-10-25T03:27:56","slug":"recovery-expected-in-2021-hiring-of-mba-and-business-masters-graduates","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gmatclub.com\/blog\/recovery-expected-in-2021-hiring-of-mba-and-business-masters-graduates\/","title":{"rendered":"Recovery Expected in 2021 Hiring of MBA and Business Master\u2019s Graduates"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>GMAC (Graduate Management Admission Council) has published the results of their\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gmac.com\/market-intelligence-and-research\/market-research\/corporate-recruiters-survey.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">latest annual survey<\/a>\u00a0of corporate recruiters. The 2020 survey concentrated on the impact of COVID-19 for business master\u2019s and MBA grads by comparing data from two waves. Survey responses were collected from 712 corporate recruiters in Wave I (February 17\u2013March 17, 2020) and 232 responses from Wave II (June 17\u2013July 17, 2020).<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Here are some of the results:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li>Most recruiters (61%) expect to keep their headcount steady in 2020. In comparison, 17% will decrease their headcount and 22% expect to increase it.<br \/><br \/><\/li>\r\n<li>The percentage of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/blog.gmac.com\/gmac-advisor\/employers-expect-2021-hiring-of-mba-and-business-masters-to-rebound\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">recruiters planning to hire in 2021<\/a>\u00a0was similar in both waves: 89% in Wave II and 92% in Wave I.\u00a0<br \/><br \/><\/li>\r\n<li>During Wave I, 90% of recruiters responded that they were\u00a0<em>highly confident\u00a0<\/em>or\u00a0<em>confident\u00a0<\/em>that graduate business schools were able to prepare students to be successful in their companies. Wave II saw a slight decrease to 87%.<br \/><br \/><br \/><br \/><\/li>\r\n<li>Recruiters reported 3 reasons for their high confidence level in grad business schools\u2019 ability to prepare their students:\u00a0<em>Strategic thinking, communication skills<\/em>, and\u00a0<em>versatility<\/em>.<br \/><br \/><\/li>\r\n<li>Despite the pandemic forcing organizations to focus on operational stability, and the fact that there are more candidates than positions available for 2020 grads, most recruiters intend to honor compensation promises. A small number will reduce salaries, benefits, or bonuses.\u00a0<br \/><br \/><\/li>\r\n<li>Grads from\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/blog.accepted.com\/m7-mba-programs-everything-you-need-to-know-in-2020\/\">top b-schools<\/a>\u00a0continue to receive high salaries. The median salary for an MBA is $115,000, which is 75% more than those who only had a bachelor\u2019s degree in Wave I. The bachelor\u2019s level salary decreased slightly during Wave II to $105,000.\u00a0<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>As the pandemic continues, so does worldwide uncertainty. MBA and business master\u2019s grads are affected as well. Despite everything, the 2020 GMAC Survey results seem to show that employers are still confident about the value of hiring MBA and business master\u2019s grads.
