In an effort to expose MBA students to a wider variety of topics and career opportunities, the Berkeley Evening & Weekend MBA Program<\/a> has implemented new course formats and created more comprehensive career services, reports a recent Haas School Newsroom article<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur goal is to balance providing the fundamental business disciplines and giving students an opportunity to explore some topics of interest,\" says Dave Gent, executive director of the Evening & Weekend MBA Program. \"What is truly exciting about the Evening & Weekend Program is that students are able to take what they learn and apply it the next day in their workplaces.\"<\/p>\n

One new initiative is an increase in flexibility regarding electives. More options are available to the evening and weekend students, including the one-unit electives Game Theory, Behavioral Finance, and Corporate Financial Decision Making.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, classes will place a heavier emphasis on real-world problem and real-world experience, as well as present students with intensive, executive education-style learning with visiting professors from other top MBA programs.<\/p>\n

In terms of career initiatives, the Evening & Weekend Program has responded to the needs of its working student body by offering more services related to career change. Students are encouraged to strengthen their skills through peer coaching and are making greater strides when it comes to networking. Speaking to other MBAs about how their degree advanced their careers will help expose current students to the possibilities that lay ahead of them and the decisions they'll need to make in a fluctuating economy.\ufeff<\/p>\n
