Less people are applying to most of the nation\u2019s top business schools<\/a>. Heck, less people are applying to business school, period<\/a> (although, compared to other grad programs, b-school applications <\/a>look strong). Bloomberg Businessweek<\/a> posted an article<\/a> discussing the decline in applications at our most competitive programs, and it\u2019s worth a read. <\/p>\n Be sure you click through the slide show, as well. There is application data on the top 29 programs and this may help you decide where to send in your packages. Why? Because with applications down, admissions boards are letting in a greater percentage of the total submission set. In other words, your application package might be more competitive now than during b-school boom years, thus giving you a higher likelihood of being accepted. Exploit this opportunity!<\/p>\n This low application trend has come up before in my blog thread<\/a>. It\u2019s important for you to know what your competitive landscape looks like. Further, it\u2019s important for you to understand why you are making the choice to return to academia and be confident that choice is the right one. By understanding why your professional peers are not going to school right now, you will more clearly pinpoint why you are.
