[Math Revolution GMAT math practice question]

$$\frac{(0.0004)(0.000005)}{200,000}$$ is equal to which of the following?

$$A. 10^{-5}$$
$$B. 10^{-4}$$
$$C. 10^{-3}$$
$$D. 10^{-2}$$
$$E. 10^{-1}$$

Hi csaluja,
The OA is flawed or the there is some typo in the question.
In the present state, it should be
$$\frac{(0.0004)(0.000005)}{200,000}=\frac{4*10^{-4}*5*10^{-6}}{20*10^4}=10^{-4-6-4}=10^{-14}$$

=>

$$\frac{(0.0004)(0.000005)}{200,000}$$
$$= \frac{{4*5*(0.0001)(0.000001)}}{{2*100,000}}$$
$$= \frac{(2*10^1*10^{-4}*10^{-6})}{(2*10^5)}$$
$$= \frac{(10^{-9})}{(10^{5})} = 10^{-14}$$
