Hello, I just took my GMAC test and I recieved a 690 (49 q, 35 v). I am thrilled with the quant, but need to bump up verbal to get into the 700 club. In verbal, I received a 44 in sentence correction, while I received 31 in critical reasoning and 34 in reading comprehension. I have a tutor I am going to meet with. I have one week until my test next Saturday. Do you guys have any advice on how to bump these areas up so I can finally be done with this horrendous test?
Thanks for any ideas!
Given the timeframe, I think the most helpful advice would be - while attempting CR questions, try to ignore what you already know about the topic in question stem (no outside knowledge, no common sense - the questions says -if true' means if the answer choice mentions something take it as it is). I used to make such mistakes, and ever since I made this minor change in my approach, my CR has improved a lot.
RC's are a bit difficult but then this is the only section where you have all the information in front of you, if you don't remember anything - you can always go back to it. I make sure that first I read the entire passage end to end, and then attempt the following questions. I don't try to retain all the info but I try to keep a mental map of what's where (e.g., If there comes a passage on American history - Para 1 - historically what was believed. Para 2 - Some scholar's theory. Para 3 - author's stand. Para 4 - any exceptions.)
I found this
