Let p = the percent
So, we get: 200 = p percent of 40

Rewrite as: \(200 = (\frac{p}{100})(40)\)

So, we get: \(200 = \frac{40p}{100}\)

Simplify right side: \(200 = \frac{2p}{5}\)

Multiply both sides by 5 to get: \(1000 = 2p\)

Solve: \(p = 500\)

Answer: E

200 is what percent of 40?

200 = x% of 40 = \(\frac{x}{100}\) * 40
x = \(\frac{200 * 100}{40}\) = 500%

200= X*\(\frac{40}{100}\)
X= \(\frac{200*100}{40}\)
X= 500%.

Answer: E.

I.e. 200= (x/100)*40
I.e. x= 500%

Answer: Option E

I would apply a different approach to solve the problem.

We know that 100% of 40 is 40.
Therefore 200% of 40 is 40+40 = 80.
300% of 40 is 40+40+40 = 120.
400% of 40 is 40+40+40+40=160.
500% of 40 is 40+40+40+40+40=200.

Therefore 200 is 500% of 40. Hence E is the answer.

\(\frac{200}{40}*100\) = \(500\)%

Thus, the correct answer must be (E) 500%

200/40 x 100% = 5 x 100% = 500%

Any number greater than 40 will be MORE THAN 100% of 40.

x = 100 * 200 / 40 = 20000 / 40 = 500%
Answer is E!
