I am preparing for GMAT from Last 2 Years.

Scores till now are mentioned below:

Real Gmat Exam 2015 - 460 ( Q 36 , V 17 ) - Its worse because I didn't know many tactics to apply in GMAT and the main was POE.

Veritas- 560 ( Q 44, V 23 )
Manhatten - 480 ( Q 39, V 18 )
KPlan - 560 ( Q41 , V26 )

GMAT Prep 1- 540 ( Q 37, V 27 ) - This is latest score as previously given 1 year before.

Gmat Prep 2- 500 ( Q 36, V 22 ) - Given in April 2017.

I want to give my Real GMAT in last Week of August and its nearly 1 month Left.

Please give me suggestions or strategies for How to score Higher than these scores and tough 700+.

Verbal score really fluctuate and accuracy is 50% in verbal in all SC,CR and RC Questions whereas SC sometimes 60-70%.

Quant is my part but I am not scoring 40+ in GMAT Prep.

All suggestions and Preparation tips are welcome. Currently I am more practicing for Verbal as its is the Ice breaker in the Exam.

Thanks in Advance who helps me. Cheers.

Waiting for some wonderful replies. :)

Hi kawaljeet

Before I can offer you the specific advice that you’re looking for, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

Studies:
1) When you say that you have studied for 2 years, what does that mean exactly? What was your study routine? How many hours did you study each week? Did you ever take 'time off?'
2) What study materials have you used?

Goals:
3) Is your goal score 700 or something else?
4) When are you planning to apply to Business School?
5) What Schools are you planning to apply to?

Unfortunately, raising a score from the low-500s to a 700+ will likely take at least another 3 months of consistent, guided study (as you will have to make big improvements to how you handle BOTH the Quant and Verbal sections - and all of that work will take time). As such, you might want to consider pushing back your Test Date). Thankfully, the GMAT is a consistent, predictable Exam, so you CAN train to score at a higher level.

First of all thanks for your valuable time.
here are your answers below -

2 Years study means every year on year, I start studying from March and Devote 2-3 Hrs daily after or before office.
In 2016, I did managed to study well but in mocks, I never score greater than 600+.
In 2017, I started in March again and now I am getting score that I have mentioned already.

For SC, I have used EGMAT in 2016 , So I have same notes to refer for Now.
In 2015, I have joined Classrooms sessions and also have notes and tactics of them.

DO I NEED TO ENROLL FOR ANY OTHER COURSE AS I HAVE ALL BASICS AND PRACTICE SESSIONS WITH ME NOW REQUIRED FOR GMAT.

I mainly falter in verbal because I usually spend time in 1st 10 Questions and end up late for Middle and last questions especially when I get RC in 1st 10 Questions.

Please suggest WHAT I AM MISSING HERE THAT MY VERBAL SCORE IS FLUCTUATING A LOT.

GOALS:
1-) My goal Score is 700+ as of now so that I can cover my average academics percentage.
2-) I am planning to apply for 2018 Business schools for which round 1 Will start in near September or October. Correct me If I missed anything here.
3-) Schools I have not decided yet as I chose them based on my mocks but I have narrowed down few countries for my MBA.

I cannot skip this year GMAT as its already very very frustrating to again try for 2019 and start studying the same things for more years.
I really want to score a decent score and take admission in next year's mba program me.

Really happy for Your reply and I welcome the suggestions after this post.

Thanks a lot EMPOWERgmat. Cheers.

Hi kawaljeet,

Unfortunately, your Verbal Scaled Scores show that you're losing serious points in all 3 major Verbal categories (SC, RC and CR) almost every time you take a practice CAT. While some of that could be due to pacing 'issues', the reality is that "your way" of dealing with the Verbal section has gotten you 'stuck' at this level (and caused your pacing problem) - so you will have to make some big changes to how you handle the Verbal section (AND the Quant section) to hit 700+. Beyond making sure that you know all of the necessary content, you will also need to focus on learning and practicing some new Tactics. As an aside, you will likely see an RC passage in your first 10 Verbal questions on Test Day, so you have to train to properly face those prompts and not waste time.

The Round 1 deadlines that you are considering are likely 2-3 months away, but that will probably not be enough time for you to get to the point at which you are consistently scoring 700+ during your practice. Thus, you might need to consider pushing back your Test Date, pushing back your applications (to Round 2 or Round 3) or changing your score goal. If you really want to try to take the GMAT before September, then you will have to be really efficient with the study time that you have, so you should not rely on old study materials - because those materials have not helped you to score any higher than 560.

1) Going forward, how many hours do you think you can consistently study each week?

Thanks Rich. Your reply helped me to see the real future.
What i can tell you as of now is I can make it happen in 2 months and near about 700 is also fine for me.

1-) Going forward, I can give 3-4 hrs on weekdays and 6-7 hrs on weekends.

Also, I can tell that my Practice to CR and RC is not well till now so I can surely improve my Verbal in near future.

1 Thing I already mention that I cannot delay one more year for MBA Program.I need to break it down this time only. Please suggest what can be the best time and date in September for real GMAT so that I can apply in R1 of any college????

You mentioned about "new tactics". What can be these as I already have well defined tactics from Egmat and my classrooms training's. If you want to suggest any other , please mention. I will surely try for that.

Also, I can see that all people usually give 2-3 months for GMAT so in that case, i am ok to give it this time.
Is this the right strategy that I am considering Verbal first and when it will be fine, I can redirect to Quant to get a better score.

Is it right to give mocks in between or you want me to prepare and be the best in verbal, and then move on to mocks.???

Thanks for all in advance. Waiting for your another wonderful reply.. Cheers.

Hi kawaljeet

While I understand that you want to apply to Business School in the next several months, it's important to remember the REAL goal: to get into your first-choice Business School (or at least one that provides a Program that you're interested in). There's no point in sending in a 'weak' application for Round 1 (if the Admissions Committees think that it's weak, then you'll either be wait-listed or rejected outright), so you have to at least consider the possibility of sending in your application(s) during Round 2 (which would allow you more time to put together a strong application).

That having been said, two months of study time is probably not going to be enough time for you to raise a 540 to a 700+, but we can certainly try. You will have to commit to training in a new way though - with an emphasis on learning to 'see' the GMAT in a new way. Working through lots of practice question is NOT the solution; if you continue to approach the GMAT in the same ways as before, then you will likely continue to score in the 500s.

Based on everything that you’ve described, I think that you would find the EMPOWERgmat Total Score Booster to be quite helpful. Most of our clients complete that Study Plan in under 2 months, but you should not try to 'rush' through any of the content. You need to learn and practice new Tactics for BOTH the Quant and Verbal sections - and staying focused on those Tactics will require some extra time and effort. We have a variety of free resources on our site (www.empowergmat.com), so you can 'test out' the Course before setting up an Account.

If you have any additional questions, then you can feel free to contact me directly.
