OG Q 2017 (Book Question: 71)

Round the numbers and "cross off" (factor out) zeros

$$39,897\approx40,000$$
$$.0096\approx.01$$ (use ONLY the 9 to round)**
$$198.76\approx200$$

$$\frac{(40,000)(.01)}{200}$$

$$\frac{(400)(.01)}{2}=(200)(.01)$$

$$(200)(.01)=(200)(\frac{1}{100})=(2*1)=2$$

**Or write $$\frac{96}{10,000}\approx\frac{100}{10,000}=\frac{1}{100}=.01$$

BigAdam , Bunuel answers this question often, but I can't find an example at the moment.
Co-founder of GMAT Club, bb , explains the issue well here

Hope that helps.

Estimating, we have:

(40,000 x 0.01)/200 = 400/200 = 2
