A: -11 x 5^6
B: 5^7
C: 9 x 5^6
D: 81 x 5^6
E: 81 x 5^8

Factor out the greatest common factor...

So, 5^8 − 4(5^7) + 4(5^6) = 5^6[5^2 - 4(5^1) + 4]
= 5^6[25 - 20 + 4]
= (5^6)(9)

The question is better understood if formatted with parentheses:

5^8 − ( 4*5^7 ) + ( 4*5^6 ) = ?
