I can only figure this out by doing all the calculations. What is the best way to solve this problem?

Provide answer choices for PS questions.

$$\frac{9^5 - 9^4}{2^3}$$ --> factor out $$9^4$$ from nominator --> $$\frac{9^4*(9-1)}{2^3}=\frac{9^4*8}{8}=9^4$$.

$$\frac{9^4(9 - 1)}{2^3}$$

$$\frac{(9^4)(8)}{8}$$ $$=9^4$$
