relative rates= 1/15-1/40 ; 600/25 ; 24 mins
IMO A

Solution

• Let us assume that they meet for the first time after t minutes from starting.
• Also, let us assume that the length of the circular track to be d units.
• This is a circular track question,thus the time taken to meet for the first time = Length of the track/Relative Speed
• Now, Relative speed of A w.r.t B $$= d (\frac{1}{15} – \frac{1}{40}) = \frac{d}{ 24}$$ units per minutes
• Hence, t = time taken by A to cover distance d with relative speed of $$\frac{d}{24}$$ units per minute $$= \frac{d}{(d/24)}= 24 minutes$$
Thus, the correct answer is Option A.
