7. A basket contains 5 apples, of which 1 is spoiled and the rest are good. If Henry is to select 2 apples from the basket simultaneously and at random, what is the probability that the 2 apples selected will include the spoiled apple?

Its a Combo problem...

picking 2 from 5 yields:

(5!) / (2!)(3!) = 10

Now that we have ten possible outcomes, we need to find the potential outcomes that will included the spoiled apple..

since there is only one spoiled apple, we know that the possible two apple combinations which included the spoiled apple will be the spoiled apple plus each of the remaining 4. Thus the the total is 4

4/10 = 2/5
