After 1st round of meal (i.e. 1/6 of worms) , rat will take sleep for few hours and by the time it will wake up mike will be away for fishing.
Rat will pick up it's scotter and will go to the fishing site With a worm catching rod and hook and while kevin tries his luck in pond the rat will try to get handful of worms.
Now if the rat can throw the hook in max 3.14×1m×1m area and the box has length and width 20cm and 10cm . The probability of rat getting a worm in 1 attempt is 200/3.14×100×100 . As we do not know how many worms are in there and how many times rat will try so hard to tell how many hours .
But definitely he cannot eat all of them aS mike has already hooked one of them to catch the fish .

Lol

1/6 th in 5hr . 30 hrs for all. 30/4 for quater.

7.5Hrs

1/6th were eaten in 5 hrs. To get a quarter, we move up to 12 parts. 3/12 is what we're looking for. 2/12 is 5 hrs. 1/12 is 2.5 hrs as a result. Add them together to get 7.5.

the key here is calculating the rate at which the rat ate the worms:

- (1/6)X=R*5, where X are the total worms and R is the rate. Solving for R: X/30
- Then we need to know how long will it take the rat to eat 1/4 of the worms---- (1/4)X=(30/X)* T, where T is the time. Solving for T: 7.5

In 5 hrs, the rat eats 1/6 of the worms.
In 1 hr, it eats (1/6)/5 = 1/30 of the worms. This is his rate of eating.

Worms to be eaten = 1/4. This is the work that has to be done.

Work = Rate * Time
1/4 = 1/30 * Time
Time = 15/2 = 7.5 hrs

Let there be 30 worms in the basement...
Quote:
The rat eats a sixth of the total number of worms in 5 hours.

So, the Cat eats 5 worms in 5 hours...

Thus cat eats 1 worm/hour...
Quote:
How much time will it take the rat to finish a quarter of the worms?

To, eat $$\frac{30}{4}$$ it will take 7.5 hours...
