Re: A car traveled a distance of d miles in t minutes at an average rate [#permalink]
d/r = t, so (1) is sufficient.

However we cannot bring the ratio down to just d, so (2) is insufficient

distance = rate * time

d = r * t

d / r = t
d / r = 30

A car traveled a distance of d miles in t minutes at an average rate of r miles per minute. What is the ratio of d to r ?

(1) t = 30
(2) d = 25

We have to find d/r and the given relation is r= d/t

Statement 1: t=30; t=d/r therefore- d/r = 30.

Statement 2: Insufficient.

A is the correct answer choice.
