A certain apartment has only 1-room and 2-rooms. If the range of the total rental fees for 1-room and 2-rooms combined is $1,000 and the range of the rental fees for 2-rooms is$200, what is the range of the rental fees for 1-room?

(1) The smallest rental fee for 2-rooms is $2,800. (2) The smallest rental fee for 2-room is$200 more expensive than the greatest rental fee for 1-room.

From $$Range = Max - Min$$, Range $$(R_1) = L_1-S_1$$ of 1-room and Range $$(R_2) = L_2-S_2$$ of 2-rooms.

_____$600_________$200_________$200_____ $$S_1$$__________$$L_1$$__________$$S_2$$__________$$L_2$$__$2000_______$2600_______$2800_______$3000__ Answer : B _________________ "Be challenged at EVERY MOMENT." “Strength doesn’t come from what you can do. If the range of the total rental fees for 1-room and 2-rooms combined is$1,000 and the range of the rental fees for 2-rooms is $200, what is the range of the rental fees for 1-room? 1) The smallest rental fee for 2-rooms is$2,800.

2) The smallest rental fee for 2-room is \$200 more expensive than the greatest rental fee for 1-room.

Let's call $$S_1$$ and $$G_1$$ are respectively the smallest and the greatest rental fee for 1-room.
Let's call $$S_2$$ and $$G_2$$ are respectively the smallest and the greatest rental fee for 2-room.

We have $$G_2-S_1=1000$$ and $$G_2-S_2=200$$. We need to find $$G_1-S_1$$

(1) We have $$S_2=2800 \implies G_2=3000$$. Hence $$S_1=2000$$. However, we can't know what value of $$G_1$$. Insufficient.

(2) We have $$S_2-G_1=200$$.

$$G_1-S_1=(G_1-S_2) + (S_2-G_2)+(G_2-S_1)=(-200)+(-200)+(1000)=600$$.

The range of the rental fees for 1-room is 600. Sufficient.
