Yes, choice A is best. "A consequence of" is always used, not "consequence from."

A - Correctly use of idiom "consequence of."
B - "A consequence from" uses the wrong idiom.
C - The use of "consequence" and "resulted" is redundant.
D - "Damaged" illogically modifies "hearing impairment."
E - See D above.

pls correct me if i am wrong in eliminating an ans

first if i am not aware of the idiom then

A) seems flaw less (so keep it as a contender)
B) wrong modification as it appears as if hearing impairment is a consequence of sitting for long periods times
and ofcourse if sme one is aware of -wrng idiom
C) consequence and resulted bth are same and thus redundant
D) hearing impairment and damage are redundant
E) same as D

pls comment if my way of eliminations contains any error

i think to be perfect it is necessary to understand y am i eliminating an ans

A consequence is the right usage, as it's absolute phrase here. Cross off D and E
A consequence of is the right idiom. Cross off B and C

A is the answer - 27 secs :D

hi,
the phrase is 'consequence of...' , as absolute phrase contains noun+relative pronoun/verbed/verbing modifiers, this phrase is noun phrase or absolute phrase?. does absolute phrase also has 'of ' in its structure?.. I'm confused with noun phrase, absolute phrase and noun+noun modifier. Please explain.

Hello DeepikaV - A noun phrase can definitely modify a noun.

Example: After receiving her first award, Mary, a student at Harvard Business School, wrote a book.

In this case Mary - Is noun

And - a student at Harvard Business School - is a modifier (noun phrase) modifying the noun Mary (Providing more information about Mary)

"D and E are out, ""damaged"" needs a qualifier here. Ears (hearing powers) were damaged, OR jet engines damaged hearing power.

C is out too…just wordy (consequence and resulted from)

A and B

Consequence from / of

consequence is same as result

resulted from
OR
result of something

Pick A "
