(C) Employees who received low ratings were dissatisfied with the system. -> maybe, but this is not an assumption and we do not care about employees with low ratings
(D) Employees who receive high ratings from a performance-rating system
will like that system. -> an out of scope inference
(E) The company’s best-performing employees were motivated to perform well
by the knowledge that they would receive performance ratings. -> out of scope, we don't know that nor can we assume that

B, In this argument we need to fill the void between the premise and conclusion

Premise 1: The survey data indicated that employees who received high ratings were very
satisfied with the system

Conclusion:The personnel director concluded from these data that the company’s best-performing employees liked the system.

How can you conclude that best performing employees liked the system from the given premise ?

Pre-thinking: best performing employees received high ratings and hence were satisfied with it.

A company’s personnel director surveyed employees about their satisfaction
with the company’s system for awarding employee performance ratings. The
survey data indicated that employees who received high ratings were very
satisfied with the system. The personnel director concluded from these data
that the company’s best-performing employees liked the system.

The personnel director’s conclusion assumes which of the following?

(A) No other performance rating system is as good as the current system. We are not discussing the accuracy of the rating system
(B) The company’s best-performing employees received high ratings. Correct as explained above
(C) Employees who received low ratings were dissatisfied with the system. You can't assume that those who received poor ratings were not satisfied with the system
(D) Employees who receive high ratings from a performance-rating system
will like that system. It does not fill the void; You can't get to the conclusion based on the given premise and this assumption
(E) The company’s best-performing employees were motivated to perform well
by the knowledge that they would receive performance ratings. too far fetched of an assumption

(A) No other performance rating system is as good as the current system.---- Incorrect, There could be another performance rating system that is as good. No information in the passage about other rating systems.
(B) The company’s best-performing employees received high ratings.---- CORRECT.
(C) Employees who received low ratings were dissatisfied with the system.--- Not true. Even the employees who received low rating could be satisfied. Just because high ratings=satisfaction, it does not mean low rating=dissatisfaction.
(D) Employees who receive high ratings from a performance-rating system
will like that system.---- Incorrect, because it is not for sure that employees who receive high rating will like the PRS. Maybe the employees expected an even higher rating and because of which dislike the PRS.
(E) The company’s best-performing employees were motivated to perform well
by the knowledge that they would receive performance ratings.--- Irrelevant. The employees could be motivated because of money, recognition, promotion etc etc.
