Re: A deli sells both orange Juice and apple Juice. A case of apple Juice [#permalink]
in order to determine what makes greater profit per bottle : apple juice or organge juice . we need number of bottles of each type and profit ( revenue -cost)
St1. Cost is same for apple and organge juice .- not sufficient info we dont know anything abt neither revenue or quantity of bottles
St2 more apple juice bottles ; still not sufficient

Re: A deli sells both orange Juice and apple Juice. A case of apple Juice [#permalink]
profit = sales - cost
case of apple juice contain x bottles
case of orange juice contains y bottles

to find - greater profit per bottle from the sale of apple Juice or from orange Juice

statement 1
purchase price of both the cases is same
but we are not given the value of x or y so we dont know cost price per bottle
total profit = sale of apple - cost of apple
total profit / total no. of apple bottles = profit per bottle
similarly with orange bottle

we are not provided with any of them ( sale price or cost price)
statement 1 insufficient

statement 2
x> y
we dont know anything about sales or purchase of bottles
statement 2 insufficient

both
x> y
purchase price same for both cases
cost of per bottle in case is less of apple bottles
but we are not still provided any info about sales we cant find the profit

both statements are not sufficient

option E is correct

Apple case contains x bottle.
Orange juice contains y bottle.

Statement 1: total cost apple case = total cost of orange case.
Insufficient

Statement 2: x>y
Insufficient

Both statements : Price per bottle is less for apple than orange.
We still don't know about the selling price per bottle.
Insufficient

Re: A deli sells both orange Juice and apple Juice. A case of apple Juice [#permalink]
To calculate profit per bottle we should know Cost price per bottle & Selling Price Or Margin per bottle

1. We know Apple juice box= Orange juice box.. but with given info we can not cal. Cost price per bottle & no. of the bottle in each box

2. x>y let say X is 10 & Y is 5 , but again we can't calculate Cost price or Selling price

combining together... Keeping same ex in mind : X-10, Y-5 & CP OF 10 APPLE JUICE = CP OF 5 ORANGE JUICE
but what is exactly the CP we don't know & even CP is equal , we can not find SP & margin per bottle so

Ans is E
