Hello everyone,
Warning: This is a bit of a rant, its been a long day. Feel free to disagree!
So... I'm getting a little annoyed with the many GMAT CATs available. I understand that GMATprep/power prep is the official gmat test, essentially the real thing. However, I do not want to waste the couple of legitimate tests offered in GMATprep/pp until the last week of preparation before stepping into the test center.
So what does that leave me? According to my own experience/from what ive heard..
Princeton Review.----- Math = too easy (from what I hear.) Verbal is decent. but its biggest flaw is the algorithm. I myself have noticed on my tests that it is far more punishing if you make one mistake wrong near the beginning.
For example: on PR Cracking the Gmat cat 4 in the verbal section, I made 5 mistakes before problem 17 (the earliest bein the 2nd problem), afterwards I was on a correct streak to problem 41, making only one mistake on problem 27. End result? Verbal 39. Fair? Eitherway, it didn't seem that PR replied to my correct answers with increasingly difficult problems that would challenge my verbal skills. I also got a 48 on Math with 700 total. I didn't make a mistake till problem 20 but still don't feel prepared when I try another company's test prep CAT
Kaplan: From what I hear, Kaplan's math is absurdly difficult w/ poor explanations, and that the verbal is awkward. Thoughts?
MGMAT: Everyone has been saying that
MGMAT offers the best prep for its difficulty and explanation, but everyone also agrees that it doesn't help in regards to pacing (the math/verbal takes too long).
and lastly, GMAC's paper tests (official non adaptive gmat tests)
admittedly, I was very excited when I first got a set of these. But of course, I underestimated the importance of adaptive in the general psyche of taking the test. I have scored well consistently on the tests, they almost feel easy. But it caused a false sense of confidence, as soon as I hoped on a GMATprep test I got a different set of questions that I wasn't familiar with and was really thrown off my game.
So my question for you all is what is the most rounded prep cat? thoughts? comments opinions? Thanks!!
